He had a disappointing pre-season and call up, but he's still very young and won't even be 22 until August. I won't be surprised if he has a big training camp next year and creates an opportunity for himself.

Saw him play last week in person. He was pretty solid tbh. I don't watch enough AHL games though so might've been a one off.

I looked tampa and Dallas Roster. A lot of player played like 2 or 3 even 4 full season in the AHL before to become a regular NHL player. I think we shouldnt throw the towel yet, they are still young. The hardest part to improve is the consistency. Every player take their own time to developp it.

Both have another year of waiver protection, but I guess their value isn't much on the trade front. They could be the B in a first + B prospect at the TDL this year, but KH doesn't look like a guy inclined to do that.

Next year, unless they explode offensively, their value will be less than that.

I'm a huge fan of prospects playing 2-3 years in the AHL before sniffing the NHL unless they play so well you are forced to move them up. Wish we could get back to that but the salary cap era has impacted that kind of development.

When Byron was put on waivers we were told by Flames fans how he couldn't score on a breakaway to save his life. So once he got here did he suddenly learn how to score goals? The process with most non Crosby, McDavid types is often long and filled with lots of ups and downs. Injuries, off ice issues, etc... so many factors and variables involved here. The main thing you look at is progress or the lack of.
