He is obviously worth more than that but with him not being able to stay healthy for extended stretches and a long term deal, I think the return if Norris gets traded is going to be pitiful.

I feel Norris is either going to be playing or on LTIR. He's never going to end up being such a liability that's predominantly healthy imho. It's either he's healthy and benefits the team even if not massively, or he is a bandaid on LTIR.

Or his shoulders get destroyed to the point he can't shoot the puck at the same velocity anymore, which is his big strength, yet is still healthy enough to play, as a shadow of his former self, but still making 8mil/. Staios should take the initial offer and run

I see something similar to this. Mainly to free Ottawa of the money to allocate it the way Staois wants to build the team.

Norris can be a star; legit star. But those injuries are serious concern.

Which they absolutely should. 9.5 million USD for Norris in real cash is an absolute load for a team like Ottawa, and the 8 mill cap hit is also a huge amount.

If Norris is dealt for a package like this, either our season is over (i.e offseason deal) or his is (i.e. season-ending injury). He wont be dealt for a package of pieces we dont really want or need unless there is an opportunity to improve the team, and this deal does the opposite at the moment.
