There are new thingysWhen you are a 8MM$ centerman and they put you on the wing
You know they don't like what they see
Wake the F... up or get traded

I've been on that train forever, but keep getting told that Norris is an "elite" center. Then I watch him get tossed out of 2/3rds of the faceoffs he lines up for. He belongs on the wing (until the off season, then he's gone).i dont actually understand why we havent tried this, especially since the offense has kind of halted
Norris-Stutzle-Batherson
Tkachuk-Pinto-Giroux
Cousins-Greig-Gaudette
Reinhardt-Ostapchuk-Gregor
Will have our 6 best forwards in the top 6. Then when perron and amadio are back plug them into the third line with Greig

I'd like to think that resigning Greig kinda cements that. Not sure that's the case, but hey, dare to dream!Same
Worth a try to put Norris at LW.i dont actually understand why we havent tried this, especially since the offense has kind of halted

I am not really making sense of this overpaid bit. Norris is a second line center who wins face-offs against the best in the league on the regular. He plays at both ends of the ice consistently (a 200ft game). Aside from Tkachuk, Norris leads our team in hits. This team as a whole is not performing offensively currently, because they still haven't quite computed the system that Green is uploading. Norris and the rest of this team will all perform better offensively as they make the system Green is implementing their second nature. One doesn't just willy nilly trade a proven 30-goal two-way center, because he had some shoulder surgeries and you're scared. Sometimes this fanbase looks ridiculous in our inability to learn from past mistakes.
The Sens biggest problem offensively is that none of the team's top 3 centres are playmakers. Norris and Pinto are shooters and Timmy is a great puck carrier but just an OK passer. But none have the vision in passing like Batherson, Giroux or Tkachuk. Consequently a higher percentage of scoring chances develop along the boards rather than the centre of the ice ( so less high danger chances) and they develop less chances overall.I am not really making sense of this overpaid bit. I disagree. Timmy gets many assists from carrying the puck into, or in, the offensive zone but he gets more second assists than primary ones. For a guy that has so much puck possession he should definitely have far more primary assists if he was a great playmaker. In comparison, Batherson makes more great setups that result in a direct scoring opportunity and he leads the team in primary assists.I would have to disagree on Stutzle. He is definitely a playmaker. Over 50 assists twice, pacing for over 50 again. He's the best playmaker on the team. If anything guys can't finish enough of the plays he creates. He should shoot more, but he leans heavily towards passing.

The question is what do the Sens think he is at his peak? Because if they don’t think the production is going to get significantly better then you can understand why they would prioritize getting out of the contract.I am not really making sense of this overpaid bit. Just an FYI that Batherson leads the team on 5 x 5 primary assists. Also Norris and Pinto only have 1 primary assist each 5 x 5.I suppose we disagree on the definition then. Tim makes more high percentage passes leading to goals. Opens up space for the next play, or directly to a goal. Batherson is good at saucer passes on the PP to an open scorer for sure. Takes some very narrow and shaky parameters to classify Stutzle as not a playmaker though.
Either way, Norris is undoubtedly not a good playmaker, I won't digress further in this thread.
He's on pace for thirty goals. He has as many even strength points as Nick Cousins. It's not the system.
It's his first season back off of two shoulder surgeries and a new system implemented by a new coach. He isn't free wheeling like he did under DJ. Everyone on this team is underperforming currently. Part of the issue as I see it, is that players like Giroux have had major drop offs this season. Don't get wrong, I love Giroux, but his consistency has been a lot less in terms of offensive output. Being that Norris is a shooter and not necessarily a playmaker, he needs someone like Giroux to get him going.Norris has the ability to be worth his 8 million without question.
But anyone who think's he's playing anything close to that dkm, lol.
