Going to miss Josh, he was a great player for this organization exactly the kind of centre we needed. Too bad about his injury history & hope he does well in Buffalo.
hes not the type of center we needed

need a better 5 on 5 player

His role on the team has changed.

He’s not on the first unit of the PP anymore where it was once built around him and his shot. Pinto is a better player 5v5 at this point, so how long can you justify giving him worse linemates if/when Norris isn’t generating much?

I don’t actually want to see Norris traded at all, I’m disappointed that this is the direction they’re going in. But when you look at it logically, there are a lot of reasons it makes sense.
He was on the first unit the entire year I don’t know why people keep saying this. He was off it for 3 games.

It still was built around his shot lol. That’s why opposing pks literally glued a guy to him. Not Norris’s fault the other 4 players couldn’t figure out how to score basically 4 on 3

You may be right with your first two sentences; however, Ruff definitely brings direction!

He may not have empathy for younger players but he knows how they should be playing.

Some young players need to learn and be taught how to play the game at the pro level against men. That should happen at the AHL level but some teams cannot wait for them to learn there.
Ruff “teaches” 1 way hockey. Awful coach.

Honestly i would have waited until after this season too see what would happen.

It's not like Cozens was going to go anywhere and something could have been done to still get Zetterlund.

I think the concern was more of Norris health and possibly going out between now and playoffs. Staios has been very deadset on getting rid of Norris despite him having a good season.

The timing was right. I was surprised at the market, Vancouver, SJ and Buffalo all confirmed to be after Norris.

Josh is one of the better two way Cs in the league ofc he is a good 5 on 5 player.

As for his EV assist totals it's not like he totally sucked at getting his wingers the puck, maybe it was their lack of finish that contributed more?

Yea but wasn't that last injury a fluke lower body?

He had held out. He's a big part of why this team was in the race.

He wasn’t off it for three games. He got taken off just before his first injury (chin?) and never got back on it. Obviously didn’t play a ton of games from that point on but he still got removed from it, whether we agree with the decision or not.

Staios wants a team of puck hounds that are impossible to knock off the puck. Norris will never be that player, it’s one of his weaknesses. I think it was more than just his shoulder, though obviously that plays a part in why he isn’t that player.

The chin thing at the start of the year? I’m sorry no lol. He was on the first pp unit. After 4 nations he was off it.

He literally score from his spot against Minnesota on Dec 29th which was after his injury.

Long time ago but he was there. Just completely covered and who ever runs our powerplay is a complete dolt of a coach whoever it is

The chin thing happened in January. Looked it up - Jan 21st vs NYR.

Puck hound then why did he get cozens?

I have no problem with people liking cozens but like
Him for the things he actually does. Hound pucks and be nasty and physical are not those things

He played like that in his first game, so he's got that in him. It's possible Staios and his staff traded for Cozens because they thought he had the potential to play that way, and not necessarily because of how he played in Buffalo which is a garbage team with no direction. Hopefully they can get that out of Cozens consistently here.

Okay so that was 5 games before he got injured.

I actually don’t think he was off the pp when he came back.

But if he was. He was off the top pp for a total of 8 games then. Thats it
He was.

But you said three games so I clarified. Also, Timmy, Tkachuk and Batherson aren’t getting taken off the PP. Doesn’t matter if it’s eight games, the PP was terrible and the guy they decided to remove was Norris. He was never on 5 on 3s either to begin with as they always used Giroux.

So my point was that no, the PP didn’t run through him anymore. He was the first one to be taken off when a change was needed.

I wanted to get another top 6 F; not trade Norris to get one; however, I did think we needed a better playmaker as C. This trade might have gotten us a playmaking 2C.

The 2nd trade with SJ did get us another F who might become a top 6 F. Time will tell tell.

We also need to get bigger stronger tougher D to protect the front of the net. We got one but he might only have AHL level skills. I still see a need to get a D like that with NHL level skills. Yak might become that D but it could take another year before he is ready.

The team as a whole don't score as much 5 on 5. Right now they are in a playoff spot better than they have been since forever & playing well. They draw a lot of penalties & when their PP is going it's one of the best. I prefer that their defensive play is much improved & they have reduced their goals against. I expect as they get better the 5 on 5 scoring will go up as of now it hasn't hurt us as much. Norris is a good player & he will figure out with a little puck luck, he just needs to stay healthy.
