We'll take an oatmeal raisin cookie. Seriously, we know how much you want to get rid of those in your arenas. That's what it will take. An oatmeal raisin cookie. Doesn't even have to be a whole cookie. Could have a bite taken out of it, doesn't matter.

Okay? I don't think he's good defensively (he's average at best), and even if he was, he's horrible everywhere else. He doesn't belong on this roster. He needs to go.

Let's bash him in our own boards. This is a value of post. This is where we overrate our player to get the best imaginary return. Your doing it wrong. ;)

I've tried to say good things about him on here, but I can't.

I actually do think he'd be good in a change of scenery. The best place for him IMO is Ottawa. They could use him to replace MacArthur temporarily and he gets to play at home.

Was about to offer the execrable Nate Prosser(#6/7 RHD, 625K cap hit), as the Wild are stocked with Dmen and short on forwards, but then I looked at Bailey's contract. Yikes.

As Garth Snow's first pick, he was handsomely overpaid for being a third liner who could stink on any other line.

He is fine as bottom 6 player, Isles fans rage over him because of where he was drafted...honestly guys get over it and keep that crap on our own board.

As far as value its not much, he is overpaid by about a million for his production, a 3rd on its own or a 4th with mid 20s AHL player would work.

Bailey needs a few more years to develop before we can truly write him off. I'm thinking we keep him on the roster til he's about 38, then maybe we can finally see if he'll become that game-changer or he'll remain the same inconsistent 0.5 PPG player that he's been for going on 9 straight seasons.

I can't get over how little it has to do with draft position. I don't care about that anymore. He's just a bad player.

He was given a contract based on potential. He had played well the previous season, and again in the playoffs. He was even bumped up to the top line during the playoffs.

Garth was trying to lock him in cheap, but Bailey never developed. Snow has done this a few times, with Okposo, Lee, Nielsen, Hamonic, etc. Cizikas is the most recent He signs players for more than they have shown to be worth, hoping they develop and he gets a bargain. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The thing is, when it doesn't work (Bailey), you end up paying about $1M more than the player is worth. When it does (Okposo, Hamonic), you end up saving a lot more. That said, if you whiff on too many of these, you can end up screwed.

Islanders fans hate him because he doesn't play physical and is mediocre on the PP. He routinely puts up above average points at 5 on 5 (he is in the top 100 for 5 on 5 points for forwards over the past three seasons) while playing above average defense, and he does it while being moved around to every forward position and line. He's far from a gamebreaker, but saying he sucks is an exaggeration.

His defense is not that great, either. Bailey fans use this line to excuse his lack of offense and shying away from contact. What is the difference between mediocre and suck? Not much!

Josh Bailey gets far too much crap. The guy is just very vanilla.... zero intensity to his game. He's a versatile 30-40 pt defensive forward though, so he does have value.

Versteeg 1 year contract being paid less than a million.
I can't think of anything Bailey does better than him.
Although he just came off a 4 mill multi year deal.
See your future Mr Bailey. See your future .

I think it costs $125 to put in a waiver claim, so that is about Bailey's value. To watch him is to see a player who does have some skill, but *thinks* the game differently (and not a good way). He tries drop passes when we should be shooting. He passes when he should just carry the puck. He's sound defensively, but his "hockey sense" actually goes against creating scoring opportunities. That makes him a maddening player especially since he has some talent.

With Kyle gone, no one is going to be there to score on the breakaway drop pass right outside of the crease, a move that Josh invented.
