No, I think it’s a doom spiral by a goalie who wasn’t ready to play and a team whose confidence eroded over time. Leafs best chance to win was a knockout blow early but when it went to extra rounds the champions had a better shot at outlasting Toronto.

At the other end, the top end players were not ready to compete on a consistent basis. No way the “big” guns could outscore the Woll deficit.

I understand your point, but this series loss is 100% on Woll. He absolutely f***ing sucks man. Every shot looks like it’s going to go in. It is absolutely terrifying as a fan to watch this guy. Hopefully he gets bought out this summer and the leafs can find a good reliable goaltender.

I do like Stolarz, but he is far too injury prone.

I agree. I think he's better than Jack or Sammy, or even Freddy, but it's the same issue.

Getting a good goalie is so hard because they are unpredictable, but we need one. It could be Stoly - it would have been good to see him in a real pressure game.

lol... and? No one claimed he was. I'm not blind to his .886 believe me. He's just not the reason this team lost this round. Dude doesn't even have 100 GP in the regular season.

This is why I solely can't blame Woll/the goaltending - having to win that game by a score of
1-0 seems just as problematic as having to win 6-5.

Stolarz is not the answer either. I give Woll a bit of mulligan, team hung him out there so many times. Plus he comes in after not playing for two weeks and is asked to play against the defending SC championship with a team not willing to do the work needed on two of the biggest games in the series. Could he have been better sure but I wouldn’t pin this on him.
