Hey guys!

I'm a Bruins fan, but obviously there has been a overwhelming amount of AHL hockey in the Northeast for quite some time with Providence, Manchester, Springfield, Worcester, etc.

I started following Jordan Weal when he played for the Regina Pats. I wanted to have a CHL team to follow and being from New England, I immediately gravitated towards the Pats nickname. Luckily enough, Jordan was drafted by the Kings and has been planted up in Manchester for the last couple of years. I even picked up one of his training camp jerseys for the Kings off Meigray last year.

I've been able to get out to 5 or so games in the last couple years to see him and the Monarchs play and he's played solid when I've watched him. You Kings fan know more than I do regarding their organization. I know LA is solid when it comes to Centers, but do you think Jordan Weal could see some ice time in the big leagues come next season?

Sorry if there has been any sort of discussion on him prior, I could not find a thread.

A lot depends on what happens with our FA's. That said, I would be surprised to see Weal with the Kings after the draft. He's a wonderful player with good instincts, but he's got a few things going against him:

1. The Kings already have a very young center in Shore up. The Kings value Center above all other forwards and their system is focused around them. The odds of them playing two green centermen are pretty much nil.

2. He is a little undersized for the Kings system. Currently there is no one on the roster under 6 feet. The only exception this year was Richards, and he previously had a reputation for playing larger than his size. The Kings like to be big and strong down the middle. Shore is the smallest guy we have playing center. The other 3 are all over 200 pounds, and Kopitar and Carter are quite large.

As much as they like Weal, the Kings system suits a certain type of player, and Weal doesn't completely fit the mold. But with the cap issues affecting just about every team, anything can happen. I wouldn't put money on it though.

If the Kings trade Richards and lose Stoll, then Weal could get his chance on LA.
If pizza was fat free, I would be thin

Please stay in the Kings org, Jordan Weal.

If a guy like Williams can survive, don't see why Weal can't.

A lot of us hope so, He ALMOST got to come up this year but it was when we still had Voynovs cap hit and we were comically short on being able to pay him.

I think most of us figure he will be delt with out ever getting any significant time on the kings. As was said above just not the typical mold of a kings player, though we are starting to look more for skill and less for size so maybe a spot opens up for him?

He'll be dealt at the draft. I'm almost 100% on that.

Yeah, that's about right. Hoping the Kings can get a 2nd round pick, but he'll probably net a 3rd-rounder which is what the Kings used to draft Weal.

He doesn't really fit with the Kings' system, but more importantly Nick Shore is just a better player. No room for Weal.

No room, too small, need to restock the pipeline. Adios Weal ala Vey. Still think it's to Toronto or Montreal. They were scouting Manchester for a reason.

I would think Dean sees Weal as a potential Williams replacement.

Hopefully, the only way Weal moves on is if it rids the Kings of Mike Richards' contract. The Kings are going to need good young players like Weal and Shore if the Richards' contract is bought out.

I actually don't think Weal will be moved by the draft. The Kings are going to have some center spots open. One from Stoll not being brought back. Lombardi in the past, to fill positions, has let a group of guys compete for that position. I'd say there's a decent chance he gets a shot in next years camp.

I think the Williams (a RW) comparisons are interesting, if a bit,
uh, optimistic.
Williams is taller/has better reach. and has a "wiry-strength" Weal apparently does not possess,
enabling him to beat bigger players.

Weal is still very talented though, and a switch to RW might give him a better chance in the Kings system, since he
would not have to be the 3rd guy down low defensively (a big physical challenge), as he would at C.
At least, I'd like to see him tried at RW.

But what do you expect?
I'm the guy who wants to bring up Brian O'Neill,
poste-haste.

Weal the center won't suit the Kings, but Weal as a Winger, that has possibilities. Weal is quite tenacious and is a solid forechecker, a move to wing would greatly enhance his chances of making the roster. Wing is the one position where I could see him overcoming his size disadvantage.

methinks if vey is playin in the nhl, weal could/should be too. hopefully he gets a shot with the kings but if not he deserves a shot somewhere, sooner than later.
