Abso-f***ing-lutely insane.

Are the Packers really so desperate for their next Favre-Rodgers they’ll throw $200m at this guy for being slightly above average for like 6 games?

Any QB who is half-decent for half a season should be good for $300m next round.

Jordan Love has started a total of 18 games in the NFL, looked honestly awful for the first couple months of 2023, and then admittedly improved a ton. That's somehow that's worth a fully guaranteed 220 million? Surely this has to be the riskiest contract in all of north american sports right now?

I'm all for guys getting the bag (hell the Dolphins lost my guy Christian Wilkins for that exact reason) but this seems absolutely insane given the context.

Let’s see the guarantees. Alls well that ends well, but Love was holding out and the Packers need him at camp getting more reps.

Good to see Love get the bag though, he didn’t let the Packers off the hook making him sit for 3 years when he should’ve been on the field. The Packers are fortunate he never forced a trade.

Packers were forced to oblige on the investment and simply guess as to whether or not they’re right. This is why you don’t do it. Save me the sitting and developing bullshit.

If you are a college QB, you have to both decide when to come out and be ready to go from day 1. A lot still depends on where you land, but the goal is to be good enough to sign that monster 2nd contract. Top 5 pick is guaranteed $33 to $40 mill from Caleb down to Alt at #5. Life changing money, but that 4 year rookie deal is now like 70-80% of what 1 year AVG is for the 2nd contract for a QB.

So, Lance, Z. Wilson, Trubisky, Darnold, all got paid well on their rookie deal, but didn't secure a big 2nd contract.

Packers screwed this up pretty badly. First by not fully believing in him last year and then they make him the highest paid after one season of work. Having said that, it won’t matter if he’s as good as his second half was because he’ll be worth it.

Jared Goff looking pretty good right about now

There’s no pressure right now so of course he looks good. The pressure is what turns him into a pumpkin. Oh, you meant the contract?

one full season as a starter and already the highest paid player in NFL history lmao

f***ing insane

Every QB who signs a contract now is the highest paid player. That's the market. It sucks but what else are you going to do?

If you believe you have your quarterback you're not gonna let him walk.

The Packers were also spending the least on offense in the league prior to this deal and are still only middle of the league. We even have 20 million left on the cap this year to use.

I've heard of putting the cart before the horse before, but maybe the new saying should be the Brinks truck before the unproven QB between Green Bay, Miami, and Jacksonville this year.

Jordan Love went from his starting spot being openly questioned during the middle of the year to the highest paid player.

I get why they did it but that's pretty wild.

NFL QB contracts are a joke. Seems like every one next up gets the biggest bag. Mahomes and Allen should have been the ceiling and are they even top 10 now with all these mid tier guys getting the huge deals.
