Player Discussion Jordan Greenway, LW, Extended 2-years, $4M AAV, 5-team NTC

I can chip in a lot of cheap eggs to buy the team as well. No problem.

also we gotta keep the few grown up nhlers we have, since adding them seems to be a nearly impossible task for kev kev.

I'm not too concerned, I can rationalize out the Buffalo tax they are constantly paying. But at some point they need someone at market value (or better).

I like Greenway as a defensive player and PKer. The nights when he's moving people around like a bulldozer are great - his game against the Rangers for example. The sleepy nights seem fewer and far between but they're there. For a team that is bulging with small players who don't go into traffic and don't engage in battles, I'm fine with keeping him around.
They don't need anyone at market value if they aren't planning on ever really being competitive, or ever spending close to the cap. I can't imagine caring about anyone's salary anymore.

I missed joke about eggs?

egg prices in the United States, have climbed each of the last two flu seasons from a combination of euthanizing laying flocks as part of a way to control the spread and of course the fact that they’re very few distribution companies and the ones that they have are absolutely gouging US consumers.

And now back to our regularly scheduled stuff

Happy to keep one of the few likeable, adult players on the roster for a few more years. Northern New York kid, probably enjoys pace and culture of life here.

Been said ad nauseam but he fills a role we haven't had much of for the past decade. Wish he had a bit more sandpaper but I like him plenty as a player.

Hard to get too excited about moves that keep this team together... but injuries aside, Greenway has been one of the few promising spots this year and keeping players that fill needs is part of the process.

Hell yes. No brainer move. Would have preferred a three year deal. Regardless, I can't see this GM replacing what Greenway brings in the open market.

edit: I wonder if the Sabres are on his 5 team NTC.
I don't mind the term. If by the grace of God we're good in 2 years he could sign again

This is pretty risk free move
