Outsider fan here, if the Sabres remain outside the playoff picture, could you guys see Greenway being made available? Would love to add him for a deep playoff run. Also, has he been consistent in throwing his weight around this year?

With all due respect the Vancouver media guys who floated this in The Athletic don't know their asses from a hole in the ground. Greenway was a guy our coach and GM both specifically targeted to acquire last season and short of some bonkers offer that is such an overpay it's simply too good to pass up there's zero chance he is moved.

Nice read from Lysowski.

I said Greenway is a couple notches above being "just another guy" maybe 10 days ago.. I think that's exactly what the Sabres need though. Guys who know who they are and are willing to do exactly what they need to in order to win games.

Greenway has been doing exactly that and has been one of the bright spots this year. Happy to have him. Thanks Donnie.

Yep, guys who are slightly above average with a couple real standout traits fill out the roster of every good team.

His year here has been exactly what was hoped for when acquiring him. It's the model for future collaboration between Donnie/Kevyn as long as they're here together.

I <3 this man. I figured he'd be 1/3 of a good shutdown line like he was in Minn, and he's doing just that. I still wonder if Ruff will trust him to move up the LU if they need to protect a lead.

Greenway is fine but it's amazing how overhyped guys get in Buffalo after a few good games. A 15-goal, 20-assist year would be a monster season for him. He's a nice piece, but only at the right price.

Meaning it in a non-confrontational manner but I think Leafs fans fall in love with those type of guys easily too. Maybe it’s the Hamilton influence on both cities

There's always a special place in my heart for guys who can play on a shutdown line effectively. I dont think many are over rating him. We just like our players that bring their work boots to game day, and he does that.

He's trusted a lot by this coaching staff, too. I know the Stars game he had close to the highest ES mins.

Finally, there was a portion of fans who wanted him off the team and even beat writers putting him in trade rumors during the offseason. He was supposed to be too slow for Lindy's system! Turns out making the smart play 99% of the time doesn't slow the team down!

I really liked Greenway in MN...till i didn't. I think that there was a lack of maturity/work ethic/conditioning, that resulted in inconsistent effort on the ice. With a huge guy like that, when he is playing poorly, it's impossible for him to hide. For all that, he was liked by teammates, and didn't seem to be a bad guy.
If he has matured and starts to put in the work, he can be a very effective player. he is not only big, but very, very strong. Big guys with long strides look slow, but he's faster than you'd think. Also knows how to play, and has decent vision, and passing ability.

Greenway's style of play is sorely lacking on this roster and he's a big part of our shutdown line. I don't care how many points he scores. I hope they re-sign him this offseason.
