1st and a B tier prospect.
Although StL would prefer a bluechip instead of more picks, just dont see him returning that.
A goalie who’s performed as poorly as he has the last 3 of the last 4 seasons is absolutely not going to get a 1st and a B prospect.

One really good period isn’t changing that.

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. When will people learn you can't judge goalies solely on their numbers, especially when they're playing on bad teams.
He’s lost his starting gig before, his backups have performed better than him and STL has been far from a bottom feeder.

He was also pretty poor for Canada until the last game

I was wondering what his value looks like across the league his value as a big game goalie seems to be proven once again but his regular season stats from the outside seem mediocre.

Currently Binnington has played 39 games with a 15-19-4 record with a 2.89 GAA and a .897 SV%, He also has a significant contract.

Jordan Binnington is signed to a 6 year, $36,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $6,000,000 per season, currently playing for the St. Louis Blues. His contract was signed on March 11, 2021, and expires at the end of the 2026-27 season, when Binnington will be 33 years old (copied off of Puckpedia).

So 3 years left at 6 million a year, so what do you think his value is especially considering his stellar performance in defense. of the biggest games this decade?
He plays well when he has very good defense

Who is a final4 club in need of a goalie the next 3 years?? Carolina?

He really didn't, and he kept Canada in the final game.
Yes he had one good game. He was questioned if he was going to be pulled for Hill after every single game before that.

Hes had brutal season 3 of the last 4 and had a very bad tournament before that last game

It's just not true. He's the Finland game and first USA game where he had lower goals against than expected goals against.

So much hyperbole from both the haters and homers.

Binnington is a middle of the pack starter, he not bad and he's not elite. He's in teh same group as Markstrom, Gibson... etc

way, way, way higher than it was 2 weeks ago.

I wish I had bought Binnington stock after the first 3 games of the 4nations, id be retired.

Right. He's a solid enough starter that he has year to year inconsistency like most goalies in that tier, but when he's locked in, he's very, very good. Teams are buying him for what he did in 4 Nations finals, 2019 run, and 2022 playoffs. Now with the cap increasing, paying a goalie $6M really isn't a big deal.

Agreed. My guess is he ends up in Vegas if they can't re-sign Hill

You’d be lucky to get a b tier prospect. No way he nets a first.

Man the recency bias here is ridiculous at times.

People were lamenting him starting that game. He had a good game luckily for Canada. He is a bottom tier starter. 6x3 isn’t bad though.

Maybe, if you are lucky he could fetch a 2nd. Doubt it though.

Not a chance. What team do you think would give up a 1st for Binner?

A good comp for a trade is when Arizona traded Dubnyk to Minnesota. 3rd rounder
That 1st is maybe warranted if the Blues retain 50% of Binnington's cap hit. Other wise a 3rd, maybe a goalie and a player with a high enough cap hit to reduce Binnington's cap hit.

He was a top 5 starter last season, even if you want to say he's inconsisent, he's not as bad as many of you say.

Weren't we having this same conversation about Markstrom last year?

I think most are expecting a return similar to what Markstrom brought back - who also had consistency issues, but what he doesn't have is a track record of showing up in the playoffs/big games.

Will he? He let a good amount of soft goals in for Canada. If they didn't outscore his softies they lose.
When Canada scored 1 goal against the USA they really bailed the goalie out by putting lots of goals in didn't they?
