Player Discussion Joonas Korpisalo

For the record, near identical save percentages by both guys but Korpi has had half the games and against the weaker competition by far. Kind of speaks to an issue defensively more so than any problem in net like I've said all along, but I get it. The narrative that allows the knives to come out and enables the wolves to attack a guy wanting to be paid is more fun and what not.
Well for one .887 and .895 is not nearly identical. Shades of calling Freddy a 20 goal scorer there.

Two, your 8.5 mil goalie having nearly "identical save percentage" to the guy being called the worst goalie in the league this offseason is still an indictment on Sways play this year. We can't expect our 8.5 mil goalie to be better than our supposedly terrible backup?

You have no problem calling out guys like Freddy, why aren't you consistent with Sway when he clearly hasn't been good this year?

He's far from only the issue but i can't believe people can defend his play this season, he's one of our highest paid players and he's awful this year by every metric, Korpi dropping a stinker doesn't change that

Bruins spend the 8th most in the league on their defense. It would be nice if they played like it like in seasons prior.

Gee, I thought it was because Chara was one of the best defensemen in the game.
Yes, at the time of his signing, he was one of the better Dmen(w/100mph shot and 2-16G seasons) and a tough SOB. The biggest thing was he told Chia-pet that he would sign if they made him Captain. That IS the move that changed the culture for the next 15 or so years. He mentored Bergeron, just by example.

.890 and .895. We close enough for you to admit its not the goaltending that's the issue yet, or do you want to continue the charade?

I've called out Sway and said he hasn't been great this year, but I also said that I didn't think the spawn of Roy, Brodeur, and Hasek could do much behind a defense that consistently allowes odd man rushes the other way and can't clear the puck from their own zone.

He has been very good but I still think we should sell high and see if Philly or somebody with garbage goaltending will pay a solid return for him.

Save % does not cover the types of bad goals he has let in this years. Their SV% could be indentical and Swayman's expected SV% would be worse based on reputation alone. Korpisalo apparently sucks, based on you and many other posters. So Korpi has played over his expected level while Swayman has play significantly below.
It's the plan old eye test. Swayman's technique has regressed, as has his compete. I get he's frustrated, that's life as a goalie. I've been there in my own little feifdom of men's leagues. So much of it is mental.

When both of them are playing their best, Swayman is the obvious better goalie, but Korpi whatever you think of him has been more consistent while both play behind the same critically wounded and dysfunctional defensive team.

Hopefully an offseason w/o drama will serve Swayman some humble pie and self reflection. He needs to live up to that contract for the B's to be successful.
