While Korpisalo would be a great pick up for Edmonton there are a ton of goalies available this off season. I don't think the Oilers are going to deal away a ton of assets for a goalie. At least not this year.

The goalie market typically doesn't provide a return that is commensurate with their actual value/impact.

As such, I don't think that the return would likely be worth it for the Jackets.

While Korpisalo is technically proficient and is dedicated (great at training and at battling for pucks in-game), the best bet for Edmonton is to go with a cheaper option either through draft/develop or keep spinning the UFA goalie wheel. Their pieces and time are probably better spent on trying to improve the defense and defensive systems coaching.

For sure, if the price is right the Oilers would certainly like to acquire a goalie of Korpisalo's caliber. However if the Blue Jackets are demanding a lot for him I think Holland will do what a lot of other GMs will do and that's sign a free agent goaltender.
