LeBrun: Jonathan Toews "100 percent committed to coming back"

He's coming to the Jets.

I am almost certain, so certain that if he doesn't that I will leave these boards forever. But if he doesn't, he's going to either Chicago and if it is Chicago I will remain. Only way I see him taking another team is if it's money related but a darkhorse is Anaheim.

That being said with the Jets, I think he'll be given a centre position as rookies will be making the team where he'll mentor them into full-time NHLers. But he'll be able to take the 2nd-4th line centre position.

1 year deal with big bonuses with Anaheim is my prediction. Ducks need a bottom 6 center that can win draws. There's the Q familiarity. If the Ducks aren't a playoff team and Toews wants he can pick his destination.

The math doesn’t look good for him on the aging curve. Im not sure if there’s any indication he can be an NHL level 4C still.

That's why you give him a bonus laden contract

1M base
1M if he plays 70 games
2M if he gets 40 points
1M if he breaks 50 points
1M if he breaks 65 points

Dont buy the Anaheim speculation. I know Q is there but Toews isn't working towards a big comeback to not play in the playoffs.

This.

I’d be stunned if he went with Anaheim.

Jets,Oilers,Tampa, Florida, Colorado and even St. Louis. Basically any team that’ll make the playoffs. I think he’s cup chasing at this point.

He’d be a solid 3/4 C.

I think there is at least a chance he is going to have more to give than folks saying he’d simply be an extra forward mentor are thinking.

Landeskog had 3 years off and a crippling injury and by game four back, he was back in a top six role. Granted, Toews is older - but in 2025, being 37 isn’t like some sort of death toll on your career. More than a few guys that age or older who have had very prominent roles in the last few years. A couple years to focus on health and training may have been worth the time off to make this a true comeback attempt.

I’m not saying it’s “likely” he’s going to be like some elite middle six center - but I don’t think he’d be making these statements just to grab 50 extra career games playing 8 minutes a night. He certainly believes he can be an effective player. I’d like to see him succeed and if I’m the team that signs him, I’d absolutely be like “yeah, let’s give this a go, why not?”

Eat shit toews, absolutely no way to wiggle away from what happened and it's sad how many people in this thread are just dismissing it. Not surprising
