The irony of that is they were one-loss away from being swept out of the first round in '14. Had that happened, or had they just lost in the first round, I'm betting my house the consensus around here would NOT be, 'I'm really proud of this organization.'

I've been trying to find this clip for so long! Thanks for posting it! It's one of my favorite Quick moments. The guy was unflappable.

The irony of that is they were one-loss away from being swept out of the first round in '14. Had that happened, or had they just lost in the first round, I'm betting my house the consensus around here would NOT be, 'I'm really proud of this organization.'

They were two years out from winning the franchise first cup, so not sure the consensus would really be that. Hell the consensus didn't fully turn until they got swept by the Knights.

To be fair to this poster, it was a miraculous & historic turnaround to win that series. The remaining SC run was also a bit miraculous to win.
Further, immediately after this playoff run, the Kings became "not a Stanley Cup contending team" -- so he was off by a few weeks.
I wonder how many posts you made from 2015-to-now stating how the Kings were a SC contending team. That would be a bit embarrassing.

Historic, yes.....miraculous, no. Kings had a great team in '14, could have won at least one or two of those first three against SJ.

What do you mean immediately after the playoff run they stopped being a contender? If you are alluding to the Voynov debacle...OK, but that wasn't a thing during the '14 playoff run. SO, predicting the Kings didn't 'have it' in April of '14 was a blowhard statement.

Funniest part about the whole bit is he claimed the Kings weren't going to make the playoffs in the 2011-12 season.

So I'm convinced him trying to out others for being wrong is like some lifelong atonement. Either way, not anyone I engage with anymore as it's just a pathway to bad faith arguments.

Wow, I really went out on a limb with that ‘12 hot take…it’s almost like we weren’t talking about a team who hadn’t won a playoff series in 10 years. BUT the guy who predicts the ‘14 team wasn’t SC calibre, despite winning 6 playoff series in previous two years, now that’s gold!
