Player Discussion Jonathan Lekkerimaki | Shooters gonna shoot.

I'm pretty optimistic about the Abby Canucks in the playoffs this year.
The goaltending could be the one weak link.

Silovs and Tolopilo are both so up and down, and at this point I don’t think you can (or should) play Ty Young ahead of them.

In a short series a bad goal could be the difference and it feels like it’s a better bet that Silovs or Tolopilo give up a bad goal or two as opposed to not giving one up.

Granted I haven't watched the Abby Canucks as often this season as last--since I don't subscribe to the AHL Network.

But my impression is that Tolopilo has been pretty solid--particularly in the last half of the season. The team is currently on a nine-game winning streak. And prior to that, they won seven in a row. And Tolopilo was voted one of the game's three stars in a number of them.

I think they're goaltending will be fine entering the post-season. With Lekkerimaki, Raty, Sasson and Karlsson back for the playoffs--offense won't be a problem either.

If I had any concerns, it might be the blueline. But even then, they've got vets like Brisebois and Wolanin, and McWard, Woo and Kudryavtsev have been solid. And of course they'll also get Mancini back. And I guess they some depth in Hirose and Felton--but they haven't played much this season.

Still, it's a lineup that looks as good as any in the AHL right now, and they have to be one of the co-favorites to get out of the Pacific Division, at the very least.

Wouldn't D-Petey be back too? With him there, that is about as stacked an AHL blueline as there is.

Rick should give him 20+ minutes every game since we have nothing left to play for. Remember when Brock got minutes with the twins at the end of the 2016/2017 season? That's what i want to see here. I don't want to see UFA like Brock and Suter getting prime minutes in garbage time to pad stats.

I do agree that if we're out of it, we might as well see how he fits alongside Petey.

How about an 'all-Abby line of Raty between Lekkerimaki and Karlsson?.....At least they'd be ready to 'rip it up' in Abbotsford when the NHL season is done.

When EP comes back, I would like to see him with an elite playmaker. Give him some confidence going into the off season. Gain 10 pounds, and aim to have a 25 goal season next year.

From the sound of things, EP40 may not play again this season. And we know Chytil is done. And now even Aman is hurt.

So I guess they'll have to muddle through with Suter, Raty, Blueger, and Sasson as their centers. Hardly ideal....but it is what it is.

Ty Young aura intensifies
