Re Nemec It’s also not implausible that Simon is still feeling some lingering effect of the shoulder injury in the pre season period. It looked nasty at the time. Shoulders can give chronic issues a month or two later. Enough to affect play.

Second, re Kovacevic, he’s the guy I keep (if he continues like this). You resign him. Hamilton is the guy we move on from. We will have to retain some salary almost certainly.

The list of dmen with a better 5v5 xGoals share than hamilton over the last 3 years is 9 guys long.

Sounds like there needs to be a "Lets talk about Jonathan Kovacevic" thread on the main board.:naughty:
Ugh. Please no. I give it five posts before “Montreal castoff” and “If he’s better than Luke then then that’s proof Hutson is on the short list for Norris consderation”.

next time you’re in a battle with a Hab's fan, and they start… out of nowhere, okay? You’re winning, and they just start saying that crazy shit out of nowhere. Just know in that moment you’ve won the fight, okay? All right? Don’t get mad. Bob and weave, slip all of that shit. “Maybe Luke hughe's sucks!” Just let that slide. Stay in the pocket of the argument. Okay? it’s over. The argument is over. You’ve won. Just take a knee and run out the clock, all right?

I did not steal this from Bill Burr

Maybe it WOULD be a good idea to go all in this year, extend Kovacevic and trade Nemec for really good forward. With Casey in the system too... why not?

It’s up to management to do their due diligence and figure out whether this level of play can be expected going forward, or whether we’re looking at another 2012 Mark Fayne who just happens to be playing with one of the most solid and dependable defensive D in the league.

But he’s been a joy to watch, and I actually think the optics have suffered around Dougie now that Dillon, Pesce, Kovy, and Siegs are all here playing honest to god defense.

So I went to check the trade thread on the main board, and there isn't one...?

Maybe we make one now :naughty:

I'm sure it'll get locked up if the mods notice it, so maybe I'll do it late one night and then bump some other threads to push it down the list.
Don't jinx him!

If the Devils can bank some more points, I think they need to try Kovy and Dillon for a couple of games. See if he can carry his own pair, or if he’s more a product of Siegs.

Howdy, I'm a Habs and Bruins fan, wait, don't shoot.lol. From the Montreal area but schooled in Mass. and had a relative have a long illustrious career with the Bruins. As visible, somewhat newish here and tend to keep to the Montreal board but check out all over the place. I'm not like them and want to apologize for what can only be described as predominantly ridiculous proposals and whatnot, frankly I'm embarrassed by so much of it. Pertaining to the Montreal board upon discovering this place, thought that it was cool to find a place where insightful, articulate hockey savvy minded people could bounce things around, didn't take long to discover how wrong I was.

All that to say that Montreal trading Kovacevik for a 4th rounder was another in a chain of bad moves, not many 4th rounders ever get a taste in the NHL and he was a young solid D that was only going to improve, glad the move has worked out well so far for him and the Devils. He is exactly the type of player we actually need but Montreal does so many things wrong and have been doing things wrong for so long, that's what's so right about them, consistency. Good luck for the rest of the season and Playoffs and will be rooting for him and Tatar. Tatar, another player we took a loss on, it never ends.lol
