Make it a 3way

Habs
Jonathan Huberdeau
Markus Nutivaara
Michael Matheson

CBJ
Andrew Shaw
Ryan Poehling
Habs 1st 2019
CBJ 2nd 2019
Florida 1st 2019
Derick Brassard
Henrik Borgström

FLA
Sergei Brobovski
Atermi Panarin
So the Panthers give up Huberdeau, Matheson, Henrik Borgstrom, Derick Brassard, and their 2019 first round pick for two guys who will be UFA's in a few months?

That's it. We have the worst proposal of all time.

Would Columbus even have that much leverage? Them landing Huberdeau for 2 players that have already admitted they are leaving seems like a reach.

It's a win-win trade for both teams

the only way it happens is if FLA is given permission to negotiate extensions with both Bob and Panarin before trade.

1. Huberdeau is a GREAT get for Columbus. Obviously he's not as good as those 2, but considering they're UFA it's a great value

2. FLA does the trade vs waiting till July 1st to sign them - since by then a ton of other teams can negotiate/outbid them.

I think such a trade can be a win/win for both parties

The New York Knicks approach to building a team. Trade good players so you can maybe, hopefully, have room to sign better players over one of the other 30 teams in the league

This seems counter productive(to put it kindly) for FLA, wouldn't moving Hoffman(or basically anyone else other than Sasha) make more sense?

Is Columbus retaining 50% of each player's salary because even with the add, you still have the worst proposal I have ever seen.

How often does he play wing vs centre? Is he stronger/better at wing or centre?

You trade Hoffman for futures(cap space) not Hubs.
I think it depends , huberdeau has wayyyyy more value than hoffman so trading him could actually get you a good dman. If it's just for capspace sure just trade Hoffman for picks

What would Fla even be looking for. I mean the entire premise is to free up cap space, you likely look for someone to take on Reimer and get little salary back, so futures and prospects???

I’m thinking Florida has silent negotiations - with Jarmo’s blessing first - to get an extension figured out for both before pulling the trigger.

To CBJ: Huberdeau, Reimer (cap/roster purposes)

To FLA: Panarin (8 years, 72 million, 9 per), Bobrovsky (8 years, 54 million, 6.75 per)

I’m not sure it’s a good idea for Florida, but it does improve their team going forward (just not sure the improvement is worth the cost/cap hit).

If you think Pana and Bobs are signing for that little you're going to be surprised. Add 1-2m AAV on both and that's what each guy is looking for.

Meh, not the type of player we need. We're set on the wings, we need a LD.

We are far from set at anything even on our top two lines. Let me tell you, I would take Huberdeau over Byron and Shaw.

As far as Huberdeau, a good player that has never reached his potential, whether it's been cause he is badly surrounded or it's because of him or the environment, it has never come together like it should. But I believe there's still things to do with him and a change of scenery could do wonders. He has skills, size, great attitude, etc...

But anyway it would be pretty stupid of Florida to trade him, unless it is part of something huge.

Not giving up Huby for Hamilton not what we need. Rather go for Pesce if we are trading with Carolina.
That would actually would make a lot more sense. Panthers could use a top 4 d-man who can play strong defensively and the Canes are looking for more forwards. Plus the Panthers want to cut salary if they are signing both Bob & Panarin and the swap of Hamilton and Huberdeau doesnt do that, Pesce does. I dont think they do that unless they already have a deal with the Jackets for Panarin & Bob though and have negotiated the terms to a deal with Panarin at least.

I wouldn't be re-signing Hoffman so I'd trade him for futures, and after that they'd have ton of futures to deal with this summer if there's someone available.
