I Will Miss Jon B. Alot!

You guys got the guy who was the consensus great goalie hope of this organization till Quick showed up on the scene and never relinquished his hold on the starting job becoming a star in this league! All the guys here have been singing his praises and I am one of his hugest fans... But nobody gave him a comment about what I consider his biggest weakness espcially compared to a goalie like Quickers... I believe JB is a bit on the small side compared to all these huge guys in goal these days. Even a bigger concern to me than his poor fortune in shoot outs etc. Your strength and conditioning coach needs to make sure to keep and get Jon on a good strengthening regime and one he will stick to religiously. The bigger and stronger he is the better he will hold up when he secures the starter job there as he will do! He is just too dang good not too! All the Best to JB in Leaf Land! Hope Frattin comes through in like fashion for us! Cause you guys got a heck of a player in this deal!!!

:yo:

Thanks for the replies, I have heard that he is a bit on the small side, but from what others have said, he makes up for it with great positional play. I like that people keep saying he is a calming presence in the net. Thats been one of my biggest issues with Reimer, being that he overplays the original shot and takes himself out of position for the rebound.

P.s. Matt Frattin in my opinion will be a tweener 2-3 liner. He plays with enough jam that he can still contribute to the bottom six, but he has a great shot and a good set of wheels (although he looked to have lost a step with his knee injury. I had suspected he may of come back a little bit early from the injury though) and powers right to the net.

Thanks for the info. I have heard Frattin is in LA all Summer and training hard, so that is good to know. I was worried when I saw that he scored 7 goals in the first 10 games and then didn't score again, after that. Hopefully, the training will pay off and he will be back to top form.

Ill go as far to say as long as he stays healthy, he will be better than Curtis Joseph and Felix Potvin ever was for the Leafs.

Bernier's good. Let's put it this way, he hasn't done anything to discredit his future star status. With the right defense, he'll be an all star.

He stinks in the shootout...that's his major flaw...

The other one will be his slow starts... Bernier thrives on minutes...and the longer his stints go...the better he'll be...

Here's to your goalie of the future...

You won't be disappointed...

Bernier once stopped all 6 shots he faced in a shootout. It ranks right up there with Moses parting the Red Sea in terms of miracles.

Hows it going everyone, leafs fan here curious about Bernier. I use to love this guy, seemed like he had ton of potential. Do you guys still believe in that, or has he kinda lost it?

You guys are gonna enjoy frattin, hes a streaky player, but when hes dialed in he can score with the best of em. When hes cold he still throws his weight around and is a hard worker.
Scrivens is just kind of meh.

you will adore Bernier, that's all i have to say

Bernier had the chance to challenge Quick for the #1 spot, and he just couldn't do it.

Sure Bernier has great numbers (in very limited playing time), but so did LaBarbera.

When you MUST win a game, Bernier is not the guy I'm looking to to get it done.

Sorry, but I've never like his draft at #11, and the trade is a sideways move for all the years spent on a 1st rd pick. I would never use a first round pick on a goalie, as so many top tier goalies have come from later rounds or even as FAs.

I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not and he sucks for the leafs. Maybe more playing time will get more more confidence / killer instinct, who knows...?

Every ex-King can't turn into Robert Lang and Matt Moulsen can they?

I just can't wait for the day when, no matter how much we've reassured them that Bernier is going to put Reimer out of work, Leafs fans come back around and go "lololol fleeced stupid Kings fans"

I'll put the over/under at around November 1st. Takers?

Yea, i would never draft a goalie that high. I think more and more people are realizing that its a waste of a draft pick. Sucks if youre a child goalie. Lol

What were the specifics of his knee injury? I know some times it takes close to a year to finally get some ligaments back to the strength they were before an injury. Kind of like Handzus his first year in LA, dude was super slow and always struggled to keep up, by the end of his time here he was back to his former self. I'm hoping the Kings see the same thing with Kopitar this year, since his knee clearly seemed to be bugging him for parts of last year.

Geez...skin cancer risk for manlove of the Leafs new backup goalie?
If I am Jonathan Bernier, I would be worried what this dude will do,
when Bernier is NHL Player of the Month in October!

Leaf fans are going to love JB and forget all about their love and praise for Reimer (the player destined to become the Leafs back up).

In the end I believe the Leafs will win this deal by a stretch in so far as who got the better player is concerned but that doesn't mean that we didn't get a great return for JB. Since I have spent parts of the past 3 seasons in ND following Frobots development I got a chance to see Matt play a bunch and am very happy to have him as a King.

But DL had the choice of taking a 1st or Scrivens plus as the extra on the deal and he went with the proven back up and change over the higher pick. The money is turning out to be pretty huge at this point and there are some in the Kings org who think that Scrivens has huge upside still and could develop into a solid starter with the proper training. I don't know if that will happen but he will be a very solid back up for us and that is something that we need for the immediate present and can use for the next season or two for sure.

JB gave us the greatest problem you can have in hockey, having a young uber talented player ready to replace your established starter. We get to chose which direction to go and can only end up making the right decision.

DL truly has been the smartest guy in the room when you look at our current team depth and roster. We have skilled/talented players that should be able to step in and replace most positions if when our vets move on or become too expensive to keep.

Enjoy JB TO. I believe you have a very good young goalie who could end up being great and I mean truly great in time. We have our Cup winning and ready to do it again team to enjoy. Win Win.
