Bad defending again in this one but JJ is just not a NHL goalie and he's never shown he is one. His career save percentage is 88.7. The only reason he's still in the league is because he's big. That's it. If he's a smaller guy, he would've been back to Europe years ago.

A lot of CBJ's goals came on fairly routine chances.

Our defensive game around him was one of the worst I've ever seen and even 2 routine saves wins us the contest.

Did he make a single save on a puck that was elevated more than 4 inches off the ice? Defensive game wasn't great but even then he didn't make a save on a single Grade B chance.

At least 3 goals he gave up last night were routine, stoppable shots. Team defense didn't help him much though

No way am I going to blame the defense for being out of sync when the goalie can’t stop a beachball. When the goalie can’t save the shots that you’ve practiced to let them take, you are in trouble. Unscreened perimeter shots shouldn’t go in, massively biting on low quality angles that pull you out of position shouldn’t happen.

He’s a big agile goalie too, I see why he’s made it this far, but the fundamentals to use all that just aren’t there.

Yes, team defense was bad, JJ was worse. He looked like he completely lost confidence after about the third or fourth one.

A portion of it is probably Franz Jean. Look I am not here defending JJ, but we have seen over the years that Jean can coach some and some just look abysmal under him.

JJ was at least normal mediocre backup tier back when Vasi was injured. Now he's complete trash. Guess the lesson is to never bring back a guy. They always get worse second year. Like damn we just need a guy that only lets in 3 or 4 instead of 5 or more every game.
