Brilliant pickup. Stellar backup goalie. Another good game. Can't remember the last bad game he has played.

6-2-1

GAA 2.42
SV % .912

On pace for 23 starts which is just what we need out of him cut Tuukka's games played from 70 last year to 55-60

Gus is playing well

Gus is just what the doctor ordered for the B's to help Rask get sufficient rest this season.

So far, it's a great 1,2 punch.

I love the Goose, i hope he can stick around too. Subban isn't ready (still) and Zane is a long way off yet. We could do with this solid 1 2 punch for a few seasons yet.

Subban I think is getting very close. Awful start to the season, injury, and when he got healthy he struggled for a month. However look at his stats since December 1st and he has been awesome. GAA under 2.2, save % in the mid .930's and has barely lost and the PB's are rolling.
I like Goose as well but he is keeping the seat warm until Subban is ready and it will likely be next year and could be sooner depending on Goose's condition from last night.

Good on breakaways and clear shots.

Seems to hit the panic button when players drive the net.

I hope so but if it was that simple you would think they would have said something. They had a major press event today and not a single word was said about him.

If there is no news I'd surmise they're running a battery of tests. I hope he's all right. With a new baby at home his wife must be beside herself. :(

You don't always get the exact diagnosis the moment you run through the hospital doors - as Artemis said, there's probably all sorts of testing to run in and out various conditions. But if it were something like, say, dehydration, appendicitis, or a gastro bug, we'd probably know by now.

There's also a chain of dissemination - whatever news it is, Gus knows first. Then he tells family and friends, and THEN it gets prepared by the Bruins press/PR folks. It probably takes awhile.

I'm glad we signed him, and I hope he's well enough to come back when it's safe. He's done an excellent job as a backup - way better than Svedberg, and while I may have been one of the few who liked Chad Johnson while he was here, he's probably better than him, too. Safe to say he's probably he best backup goalie we've had since...well, since Rask.

With Rask having 36 games played (including two partials), that leaves him about 27 more games if you want him to have 63 games played. That leaves "only" 6 more games for a backup, which isn't too awful. In February, I'd give the backup one Buffalo game, two Disney road trip games, and maybe the CBJ home game. March has 3 back-to-backs - one game each. April is obviously standings-dependent, but there are fortunately no back-to-backs then, so you could run Rask through that gauntlet if need be.

That gives 7 more games for the backup, giving Rask a total of only 62 games if he doesn't have to step in. Even if he has to be called in 3 times, that gives Rask 65 games, which I think is about what Clode was aiming for.

I was worried when the team Dr called for the Emergency Dr last night. It is rare for the Emergency Roon Dr to go back to the locker room.

I hope Gus is OK.

Gus left the game with an elevated heart rate stayed over night and all test came back negitive

And will be fine to join team after break

Great news that he is okay but still scary that the issue was his heart again

The Boston Bruins issued the following update on Bruins goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, who left Tuesday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks after the first period:

“Jonas Gustavsson was removed from Tuesday’s game for precautionary reasons due to an elevated heart rate. He was taken to Mass General Hospital and remained there overnight for testing. All preliminary tests came back negative and he was discharged Wednesday afternoon. Jonas is expected to rejoin the team after the NHL All-Star Break pending clearance from the Bruins medical staff.â€

The moment he left that game I was worried it was heart related. Hopefully he recovers well, thankfully it wasn't a Peverly situation and he was taken to the hospital immediately.

Get well Monster!

Excellent news. I swear I read something about elevated heart rate happening to Gus in the past, and that was going to be my preliminary guess. Anytime you can't get your heart rate down and you have a history of arrhythmia, it can be a little concerning. It also ties in with the team doctor calling the emergency doc in - emergency docs are trained specifically to deal with exactly this kind of situation.

On the flip side, it's nice to see the game numbers potentially working out well for Rask and Gustavsson this year. I think Clode was looking for 65 games for Rask, and that seems to be where he's headed.

You don't screw around with the heart and nobody can dispute that MGH is the best place you can go in Boston for cardiac issues.
