We really don’t know what a bad defense is anymore because we haven’t experienced one in almost 15 years.

I have no interest in changing up our defense until the rookies prove they’re ready to take over.

Middleton - Jiricek

The only defensemen we should be talking about moving are the prospects we’ve wasted several draft picks on that seemingly have no path to the NHL anymore (Lambos, ROR, Spacek, Peart, Pionk)

Well we’ve missed Spurgeon and Brodin for long stretches of seasons nearly every year so there’s that.

I love Brodin, and Brodin's game. I also like Spurgeon, a lot. Having said that, i would consider trading either in the right deal. Neither is getting any younger, and I want some talent added to the forward group. I am tired of seeing a PP2 with Freddy Gaudreau, Marcus Johansson, and Foligno on it.

We can't continue to spend all of our draft capital on players like Buium and Jiricek, and ignore the mediocre state of our young forward depth, especially if Rossi is traded.

I think spacek has a chance to be a player for us if he can be patient and keep putting in the work.
