damn did it seem like every clearing pass hit them some where like they had extra big skates on or something , that normally isnt the way but loved how we just kept playing it with very little extra panic

Games like this where the puck is bouncing so much hurrrrts a team that uses so much precision on breakouts and focuses on possession

MTL likely would have outplayed us tonight anyway but they always shoot for area passes , so the bouncing puck isn't as big a deal for them. Add to that that MTL was just thrashing us in 50-50 pucks and board battles and I'd rather chalk it up to things being atypical for a night heh, don't see us get outworked often until the last three games...hope Saturday looks better from that standpoint because like I said last game the fatigue trend worries me, hope it's just a crappy road trip thing and not a longer-term issue.

I'm just catching up on the game after work and that PP right before Doughty goal had some good puck/player movement. Looks at the guys on the ice...

Mersch--Weal--Toffoli
Muzzin--Doughty

Finally some extra skill on the 2nd unit!

"Weird seeing me score a goal in December right? Won't happen again." :sarcasm:

Makes me miss J-Dub, and Mitchell. :(

Man shutting out the Canadians and chasing the greatest goalie of all time not named Lundqvist was freakin soooooooo satisfying. And yeah tell me about it I too miss those guys. To a certain extent Richards too. I was a big fan and wish he never went south he was an absolute warrior in his prime.

Great performance by Quick tonight, it was pretty apparent nothing was going to go in after a while. The Kings got dominated at times possession-wise, which is rare, so props to Montreal.

Some interesting stats from the game:

Scoring chances:

LA: 17
MTL: 17

High danger scoring chances:

LA: 8
MTL: 10

Low danger saves:

Condon: 9
Quick: 22

Medium danger saves:

Condon: 3
Quick: 5

High danger saves:

Condon: 5
Quick: 8

Montreal had a lot of zone time, but was kept out of the better areas by the Kings. Certainly their size advantage helped them here. I was impressed with the Habs board work, they won tons of battles tonight. They just were going for more traffic/rebounds than driving the slot and it didn't work out for them.

Weal is starting to play better. That sliding 2 pad stack in the slot...wow!

That was pretty impressive.

He did fail to get the puck out of the zone 3 or 4 times though that led to scoring chances, that's pretty bad given his ice time. There's a reason he only saw two shifts in the third.

He's kind of a turnover machine around his own blue line. Hopefully he grows out of that.

Same for me.

I am not impressed with Weal, he is not doing any of the things that made him a very successful AHL player. Also lost every board battle, save for one, he engaged in tonight.

NHL Leaders in +/-

2. Anze Kopitar +16
3. Tyler Toffoli +16
4. Evgeny Kuznetsov +15
5. Jeff Carter +15

Thumbs up

I have to say it's damn impressive with as slow of a start kopi had that he is that high already.

A lot of rookies do the same. Pearson looked like hot garbage when he first started. Turnovers, hesitation, etc. I'm sure it's not easy to adjust to the speed of the NHL. Since he is a center, his mistakes are magnified. I believe if he improves in the FO circle and plays without hesitating then he will see more minutes.
