Confirmed with Link: John Tortorella relieved of his duties as Flyers coach. Brad Shaw to take interim charge for now.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

Exactly. Visionary and top NHL GM's and team management can see in the future whether a player like Farabee fits in the future and how. The time to trade a player like Farabee was last year before he went into his horrific slump and he was one of the top scoring LW's in the league at ES. Sell at the top of a players value, not at the bottom. It's also about timing. The Flyers have wasted years trying to compete and win when they should've been positioning for high draft picks and future elite talent. It's hysterical that Briere talks about not wanting to get stuck because you can't get out of it. Yet, here they are anyway.

Never said anything about selling low. That is a totally valid and diff argument. They should have both been moved much earlier.

If/when Farabee does? Or if/when he doesn't. Will you come back and say they made the right call if/when he doesn't? 50 point player once. let's not act like he was a consistent 50 point player.
Then let's not act like he's in a downward trend cause of one bad season. In his previous 282 games before this year he scored 161pts, so around 46pts per 82. He is closer to a 50pt player then to the player he is this year. You said there was some logic to their decision making, but couldn't answer what that logic is when I asked you

It is more than 1 season of declining play. With no turn around in site.

It was answered in the initial post. The logic is he was moved before he became unmovable. Pretty clear they wanted out of that contract. Frost they didn't think was worth what he would have received.

Never should have been hired. Accomplished nothing. Damaged the team badly, both by shedding talent and eroding any semblance of modern hockey out of the roster across multiple years.

If he gets kicked upstairs to have any input, he will continue damaging the team.

Overall, this was exactly the terrible and awful experience I've assured everyone it would be since 2012/2013. I'm tired of being right about the Flyers' ideas. I want to be wrong now.

I hope the first order of business for Shaw is telling Michkov to vigorously forget everything Tortorella told him about how to play.

There’s legal wiggle room here for him to come back in another capacity but it’s not a wide open door.

Difficult decision, he says. But that postgame interview forced it.

More than 1 and no turn around in sight? Okay. Well like I said Flyers logic=no logic. Overpay older 6D but cut bait on young producing C.

I understand celebrating. I really do. But I'll be waiting until I see the replacement and potentially longer.

I need signs of good process or nothing changes.

It is this in a nutshell. They demonstrated progress by bringing in Knoblouch only to let him go. Huge off-season for Danny to show times are a changin’. I’ll keep the hope but if it is the same old story I might hand in my card

Outside of winning SC's, there have been 4 joyous moments for me....
1. Winning the Lindros sweepstakes
2. Being gifted the #2OA pick in 2017
3. Snider saying they were no longer going to trade youth for short term elderly fixes
4. Firing Tortorella

Well,
- Lindros proceeded to have career ending concussions
- We drafted Patrick
- I believe the very next year after saying this Snider made Holmgren trade Bob and sign Bryz
- So now what disaster lies in store for us?
