Not a stupid question at all obviously. Just Torts doing his thing. That said, he would be foolish to go to Hill in an elimination game. Hill hasn't played in a while and was crap when he was playing lesser competition than the Canes. Hart was instrumental in turning things around for VGK and was in goal when VGK swept the Avs. Vegas needs to hope a couple days rest helps him and that the team plays better D and quits putting the Canes on the PP.. A worn down Hart gives them a better chance of winning than a fresh Hill.

Never understood why Torts is such an ass when he is being asked a legit question, your goalie has been complete dog poo this series, giving up 4 goals each game.
Agreed. He's an excellent coach, but this stuff is so unprofessional.

I don't know if he's the kind of guy who motivates himself by cultivating a "Me against the World" attitude, or if has some sort of weird complex about lowly sport journos intruding upon the holy circle of Hockey Men. Either way, it reflects poorly on him. Most of the other coaches don't like the media either, but they're professional enough to answer questions respectfully. Especially completely reasonable questions like this one. It costs nothing to just say "No, I'm not considering a goaltending change".

And I don't buy the idea that he's doing it to put himself in the line of fire and take on media criticism. Maybe that's how he rationalizes it, but all he's doing is adding fuel to the fire and creating unnecessary drama around a goaltending situation that's pretty uncontroversial.

There’s a well known guy by name of “Brandon bussi” who went 7 weeks in between games.

Not a bad question but him being defiant is probably a backdoor way of trying to put some confidence into his goalie.......A bit rude but that's always been him.....

Because it takes pressure off the players. You are talking about him now instead of the players.

That's what he's trying to do, and sometimes it works. But Torts also sometimes creates a lot more attention on the issue than there was in the first place. A lot more people are talking about Hart's performance now than they would be if he said "Not even a consideration, no".

Quite a tough question for both goalies' self-esteem regardless.

Probably would have taken a more diplomatic answer to not sound like Hill is the worst goalie ever, without admitting that Hart is in a tough spot as well.

But I think diplomacy is at about at as a high skill-level for Tortorella in hockey as it is for Kushner and Witkoff in politics.
