All up to Tavares. Yes to me there will be a market. But the return wouldn’t be great and the leafs will be taking cap back.

Why would they trade him? They need him, the fans said it themselves.

I think they should give JT an $11M AAV extension for a few more years. Three more years simply isn't enough.

Three more years at $11M AAV… no market for that bloated contract.

You would have to eat at least $4M AAV to get it moving. Then, when you factor what you’re going to pay a replacement 2C, you’re not really saving anything.

I think you’re just stuck with this anchor.

If you would take Tavares on your team, what would you give up?

PPG player with obvious flaws, is there a market?

Edit: Let's pretend he waives his clause.
Toronto needs to give up this silliness. He’s a TML for the balance of that contract. Accept this. It’s just reality. Live in reality. This isn’t a fantasy website.

JT for JT Miller

Canucks get swiss army knife center who can shut down players. Leafs get another game breaking offensive player.

He as a player isn't an anchor but his contract (in context with the Leafs paying AM, Marner and Nylander as well) is what the "problem" is but Covid also has had a really negative affect on the Leafs and their ability to navigate the salary cap.

I also happen to be believe that a hard cap is extremely stupid and the NHL would be better served with a luxury tax to work with.

Why would the Canucks do this? They can re-sign the younger, better player for less than trade him for a declining JT.

Believe it or not... This section actually gives you options to make up scenarios.
Sure. William Nylander + Sandin + 1st for JT Compher. There. Another fantasy trade.

Sure it makes no sense but debate it please?

This sport doesn’t bring in anywhere near enough money to make a luxury tax make sense.

No market for sane GM.

- PPG but definitely overpaid (you're paying that kind of money for at least 1.2 PPG).
- The terms are too long (3 years more after this season).
- On and off during playoffs. When he is off, he costs the game. When he is on, not fully on and choked for the win
- Injury history and he is 31.

Basically, he is possibly declining with that bs cap space. Maple Leafs hopes he plays well and not straight down became atrocious like Loui Eriksson or Milan Lucic.

Okay.

If I had to reply, which I don't need to (main point if I dont see anything here, I just dont reply.. you know instead of complaining)...

I'd say thanks for the offer but I don't think it's fair value.

After next season real cash falls a lot so rebuilding teams with cap could be interested. 9M+ Is too much in this environment

The Leafs sure do.
So give the Leafs, Canadiens, Rangers, and Wild a huge advantage while making a team like Hurricanes, Panthers, Coyotes, Predators, Islanders suffer? Seems dumb. It only works in the NBA because even like the Jazz and Hornets bring in a ton of money.

Probably a better chance after his July signing bonus of 7 million is paid.
