If Stevens is to leave for greener pastures, this is certainly not it:

Thanks for the info from a canuck fan.

I like what i seen of stevens from the aspect i like how the kings defense and the pk play. My father called me last year and he said you see how those kings go after players in the defensive zone forcing the opposing team to do something without giving them time to setup and think, well why the hell dont the canucks and every team play that aggressive?

And its a good point. We tended to implore a structure under av and bowness of standing still in the shooting lanes which did not work well for us this year, or last year many times. The series last year was quite an eye opener with regard to defensive systems, ours was making mistakes left and right, leaving players all alone, and the kings were aggressive and worked to cover every each of the defensive zone.

The one thing that concerns me is the ice cream and loving the players. To be honest my personal opinion is we also need a coach who will either make sure ego's are all in check, or be able to get to certain players in some way. When kesler is coasting or not playing well it needs to be addressed and the coach needs to get him going, when bieksa is playing extremely lazy in the defensive zone he should be shown some sort of punishment, or if edler continues and makes simple mistakes they need to be worked on and corrected right away because they got away with it over and over under av.

But really when i look at the kings defense i see imo the best defense when healthy in the league, and the hardest working. Now is that the character of the players, do the kings players have no ego's or a lazy bone in their body, and tough mental character, or does he get them to play that efficiently and motivated, that is the question for me anyway... Probably tough to answer from a viewer perspective.

Having that D philosophy is one thing. Having the correct players to implement that system is another.

The system works because Williams, Richards, Lewis, Stoll, King, Clifford, and Fraser are EXCELLENT forecheckers. You have to win battles 1 on 1 with dmen and you have to have the speed and timing to get there at the right time.

You also need a fantastic goalie, because the downside to alot of the players I mentioned above, there will be serious team scoring slumps which we see EVERY year.

I think it is a great system for the playoffs. We just didn't get the timely, secondary scoring that we got last year and that is really the difference.

I agree with you mostly, but Kopitar and Brown are not secondary scorers, and they were the gaping hole.

Tortorella is also being interviewed by the Canucks so maybe he'll get the job.

The Kings, but that doesn't mean I want Tortorella's being a jackass all over the TV everyday, especially on a division rival.

I'd rather have him in Vancouver then on NBC next to Millbury and the thief everyday, much worse scenario.

Kompon was a lucky charm?

Kompon is 3 games closer to a back to back Stanley Cup Ring. Was he our lucky charm last year and now the Hawks?
