GIven the success of the Kings and his role in that (D and PK) I guess this will happen someday. Wish it were in the East, not in the Kings conference.

Always liked him, felt the FLyers fired him too soon (Flyers act rashly-hard to believe!). He got the FLiyers to the ECF in his second year as a coach and they would have gone deeper the following year (2009) if Richards wasn't playing with two blown out shoulders. He's won an AHL championsihp as the head coach and the Stanley Cup as an assistant. Smart guy, players like him.

Interesting that he's the leading candidate while still serving as a bench coach for a team that's still active in the playoffs. Not to jump to extremes, but isn't that grounds for tampering?

That has never stopped the Canucks before either as they hired Pat Quinn while he was still employed by the Kings.

Don't they have to offically request permission from the team first? I thought that was the protocol when the Kings hired Sutter, since he was still under contract with them last year.

What I am told is happening is that teams have targeted Stevens as a candidate that they want to interview and nothing more.

It would absolutely be tampering if any team talked to Stevens without the Kings permission which isn't going to happen while we are still playing, let alone for the WCC and possibly the cup.

Its like talking about an impending UFA being the next player for your team during the season. Its all speculation.

That said we will lose both Stevens and Hextall sooner or later. Here is to hoping they do end up far away.

Outside of the division, please. So hopefully Steven gets a gig that's not with the Canucks if he's seeking a promotion.

Maybe the Kings can get a second round pick for him. The Kings had to send second to Philly for DL.

Another article/blog with some stuff about Stevens and the Vancouver job (ugh, just as they come into the Division, seriously?)

http://blogs.theprovince.com/2013/0...s-the-deal-with-utica-john-stevens-and-booth/

The first half deals with the ongoing mystery about where the Canucks are going to put their AHL prospects next season (they bought a franchise and ended their relationship with AHL Chicago, but weren't able to put it in Abbotsford as they wanted, because the Flames weren't going to give up the sweetheart deal for the incentives the Canucks were offering), with the frontrunner for a temporary home being Utica.

But the 2nd of the three bullet points is about Sevens.

It could just mean that he is their first choice on their wish list, not that they've actually spoken with him or have made any official intentions.

If Stevens is gone does Mark Hardy make his return behind the King's bench?

John Stevens going to Vancouver?

Hey kings fans,

There have been a ton of rumors here in van that gillis has been waiting a long time to interview John Stevens and make him out next head coach.

I am just curious if you guys can give us a scouting report on him?, What kind of a coach is he? What has he brought to the kings? Do you like him/hate him?, Would you be sad to see him go?, His coaching style, His system he runs, How is he with kids, etc.

Thanks
