...loved Petry while he was here and still a useful 2nd pairing RD that could run a PP...those days are gone...let him retire in Detroit...

My nightmare is that we re-sign him and pull the "ASP has to earn his spot and beat out a veteran" shit we're famous for doing.

Somehow half the fan base is just now realizing this season that he's not an NHL caliber defenseman anymore. That shit was obvious all last season.

Did he really? He signed an extension with MTL just before the pandemic, did he not? I think he wanted to leave because of the pandemic non sense going on in Canada at that time.

Well yeah that's pretty much what I meant by living in Canada. Everything I heard was that he hated extremes Canada went to during COVID.

It certainly wasn't always that way.

Injury prone, awesome 7 years ago, irresponsible financial decisions... They sound pretty similar to me

I dunno that you can call Kane financially irresponsible.

The man pinches pennies so much that he beat a cabbie over 20 cents!

It's sad to think of the financial security he would've had if he hadn't turned down the large 8 year offer from Dallas just to attempt to get another million per year (or so) in free agency.

maybe he can do what Kovalchuk did after he terminated with LA. Sign with a bottom feeder to prove he can play with the plan to get traded to a contender

End of the day I think an agent knows better than to lose his cut of $58M by pushing his client to go for more.

Say Klingberg's agent gets 4%. Do you really piss away a $2.3M payday trying to get $240K more for yourself? (Report was Klingberg wanted 8 x $8M)

Nevermind that pushing him to UFA would've meant Klingberg would've needed 7 x $8.3M just for the agent to break even.

Agents can’t force a gun to his head

Johnson and him both said Jones, nurse, hamilton and nurse are all $9 and higher AAV
he though he belonged closer to those guys the offseason earlier.

not backfired on him immensely, as he thought I just have to get over $8 to equal the dallas deal

One of those teams is going to sign him over trading for a legit dman like Provorov or Pettersson and they are going to be sorely disappointed.
I agree with you to some extent, but I imagine some GMs see this as a way to get an improvement on their 3rd pair while saving resources for additional roster improvements rather than spending most of their future assets on 2 UFAs.

At the moment, Kane is the anomaly for that surgery.

Until somebody else recovers like that it's still going to be viewed as "Because he's Patrick f***ing Kane".

You know that and I know that, but that doesn’t mean that people who give away stupid money on 1 July every year are sitting around really weighing that it’s almost unheard of for a player to come back and be useful. Let alone productive after that surgery. Like I said, the PR is coverage of Pat.

why-not-both-why-not (3).gif

Which of these competing teams for his services, actually need a PPQB?

I suspect Klingberg would want that opportunities as points = money.

Is Sanderson and Chabot getting the PP job done in Ottawa?
Leafs look to run a 5 Forward PP, is there a fit there?

Give me an answer on EK65 proposal!

I hope the Oilers pass. I just don’t like this player. I’d hate to miss on a better D due to cost thinking this option is suitable.

If any player joins the Oilers without playing in a long while let it be Jonathan Toews. I’d see value in even the most limited mins played adding captain serious to our group.
Sorry I don't get that. He's likely looking for a deal to build value. That means he's cheap.

That means that if he fails, it doesn't hurt our ability to go after a different defenseman at the deadline.

Klingberg's competition is Troy Stecher and Kulak playing his wrong side. If these surgeries mean he's better than he was before, it's a good situation for him to build his value back

Idk. Maybe I remember him from that playoff run for Dallas. He was better than a young Heiskanen. Mobile, tenacious. If he's closer to that than he's been in recent years, it's a good gamble to take.

Dreger just ranked them
Leafs then Oilers then Sens
That's just Dregs alphabetically correct way of putting out the order.

All I See if Kling is picked up by the Leafs is:

Leafs then Oilers then Sens

I hope it is just a two horse race between the Oilers and Sens.

so, hard pass on "please don't Kling" ;)

No that’s what he just said on TV on insider trading, he was ranking them by order of happening.
Luckily for the rest of us, you guys lead the way.
