This is a bit simplistic. I think the Oilers could use a lot of things on their blueline.
Top pair guy to play with Nurse. This top pair guy actually probably should be a puck mover, as Nurse is fine skating the puck, but has too many costly turnovers to be our point man. We were hoping Bouchard was going to take over this role, and he still may, but he isn't there yet. Barrie is a good puck mover, but he isn't an upgrade on Nurse overall. The issue here, is that while Klinger is a puck mover, his weaknesses are similar to Barrie's. That said, he's been good his entire career until he gets to a Dallas Eakins team, so maybe this is how we get a top pair guy that we've needed for years - wait until Eakins makes him look awful, get him on the cheap, extend him. But its a huge gamble, because it is more of what we already have. If he rebounds to what he was in Dallas, he's the best of that type of player we would have though.
We also need a 2nd pair LD. We're hoping that's Broberg too, but we need experienced guys in that role now. I like Kulak, but it's become obvious that he isn't quite the caliber of player we need on the 2nd pair alongside Bouchard. This is where the Edmundson talk is coming from, but I don't know if he is the answer. He's the right type of player, I'm just not sold on him being the right caliber of player.
Nurse - ???
??? - Bouchard/Ceci
Kulak/Broberg - Bouchard/Barrie

If Montreal fans are so desperate to move him, its because they know he isn't that good and they might be able to bend someone over to get him. That's exactly why I'm cautious too. He isn't very good.
