I know you like Bunting, but Burke is going to get that spot.
I've thrown his name around for the 12-13 spot, too. There are a couple guys who can step in and play limited minutes with a touch of upside.

We can't even get our top ten pick into games. It's mindboggling. I'd like them to retain the flexibility to let Burke, Bunting, Fasching, and Jenik to push for a full time job and bring some hunger to the line up. Plus they're cheap.

Hayden and Pitlick are going to make 2/3 of a hard nosed 4th line (I hope). Nice pick ups and very much in line with what GM Armstrong stated.

More concerned we are running the same ageing, expiring contract group of D.

Keller-Dvo- Garland
Schmaltz-Hayton - Kessel
Crouse-Stepan- Fischer
Bunting(?) - Hayden - Pitlick

Only concerns me because of the cap they tie up or if they stay past the TDL. Otherwise, there will be some decent depth guys scrambling for a spot when other teams are capped out. Forwards and D.

Man. These lineups we’re posting just plain suck. Lol.

I'm fine with bringing him in. We just don't have cap space. And I'd rather use the money on a C/W

5mil over 3yrs for 1.67aav.
We don't have that much cap space if you want to accrue cap this season for later in the year to exploit contenders.

We have to move someone out to get the flexibility to add a guy or two.

He'll throw. He's not great at it, but he's a willing combatant.

I'm all for it.

That's already way more than almost every single Coyote last season. Just the willingness is enough for me to at least give credit for.

Added bonus... Maybe gives something for a fan to cheer for. Lord knows Yotes aren't going to score worth a damn under RT and who knows how the wins and losses will go (especially under RT).

If you type “John Hayden” into YouTube it’s basically a list of fights. He doesn’t usually win, but he is an instant upgrade on the p***ies this team has previously employed on the bottom lines this past year.
And he’s very new to fighting. He just finished his third pro year. He’s older than most guys of his professional experience level because he committed to stay at Yale all four years and graduate with his class.

Wasn't it Donny and Co who had a 240 games played threshold for when you might expect a big step up from a guy? I don't remember. Hayden is only at 153GP as a four year pro (which includes the 12 he played late after getting signed out of college). 17 points in 24 games in Rockford, then trying to break in under Q.

Bill Armstrong says he's been following Hayden since he was apart of the US development team.

Sounds good. I have not followed these two players but BA knows we have to have protection for our more talented players. I have said before that a couple of trades or a couple of different players and this team can and hopefully will play much different. OEL will be happy about getting these two. I think we just might see a different Keller this year.
