5 of our last 6 top draft picks have been forwards. The only exception being Dahlin - a can't miss Once-in-a-generation opportunity. Would have been 6 of 6 if not for the lottery win.
Currently our 3 highest paid players are forwards. When everything shakes out a couple of years down the line I would expect 4/5 or 5/6 of our highest earners to be forwards. Again Dahlin being the only exception.
Additionally - the team currently has 20 contracted forwards - including RFAs. So while the team does need to add talent there they also need to ship a few bodies out.
This is why these offseason scenarios posted here which have us adding 4 or 5 forwards to the NHL roster are so unrealistic.
