Ducks fans: How much would Gibson cost? Is retention an option?

Last I heard (from 32 Thoughts podcast on Jan 10), the organization and him both want to move on and it’s just a question of getting someone to pay the asking price.

So my question is what is that?

I'd prefer to keep him. We lack a capable backup, and I personally don't want to see another goaltender ruined by overplaying him in front of a subpar defense.

Okay but it doesn’t seem like the organization you cheer for feels the same way

Reportedly the price remains high. I don't see any team needing a goaltender that badly to pay the price but I could be wrong.

He's not going to be a cap dump you can trade your trash for. Why do you think he's still playing?

Nj might now
That would be an expensive tandem of Markstrom and Gibson next season, but if NJ believes Gibson could be the answer for a couple of years they could move Markstrom in the off-season with his permission.

Carolina made sense when Andersen was hurt. Could still make sense during the season if Carolina doesn't trust Andersen to be healthy in the postseason, but does Carolina think Gibson in a tandem with Kochetkov is worth the price?

I think it's more likely Carolina revisits Gibson in the off-season if he doesn't move mid-season.

Same answer as always. He could probably be had at a bargain price if a team took his full cap hit. But the more retention you want the higher the cost needs to be. There is no incentive for Anaheim to pay Gibson to play elsewhere for no return.
