No.

Beecher is not as much of a project as Senyshyn.

Beecher is an accomplished 200 ft player who kills penalties already. Senyshyn could take his equipment off and rest when it came to the PK and defensive responsibilities because he wouldn't see the ice.

No comparison as far as the development required.
ok thanks Dom

Oh, I agree with that.

I'm just saying he has a ways to go. The tools are all there. I just think people should temper expectations a bit and not move him to the top of the Bruins prospects just yet. He needs time to develop and define his game. Certainly he can climb to the top in time. Just not yet. It's the shiny new toy syndrome.

Last night they used my scouting report on 98.5. They made fun of it/him a bit, but I don't think they were being serious though. (and you know me, I take these things seriously).

I'll be on there next week and we'll set it all straight.

are he and Frederic redundant as centers? Do either have top 6 upside?

No guarantee either of them are going to be able to make it as an NHL center. Given they are 3 years apart in age, if Beecher makes it, it is likely it will be the 2023 or 2024 season before that happens. Given he could start out as a 4th line player, them being redundant might be something you need to worry about in 2026

I hope they do...
Cuz once age catches up with the Bergeron / Krejci duo, Bruins are going to need immediate help.
It's later than we think. Krecji is already playing old. And, after the next 2 seasons, he's a UFA. If we keep Krug, which is fine, I would dish DK46 now while he still has value and obtain the legit 2nd line winger we need. If we're building a "strong at center" team, then at some point, they need to step up.

Puts up over 70 points with a career year.

"Plays old"

Lol k

just in case this thread gets necro at some point I should weigh in

I dont know this kid... he wasnt on my radar... but I feel I know our scouts. I trust what I know about our scouts

I didnt need this pick to be this guy... or that guy... because im not smart enough to know. whoever was the pick, im going to hope for the best

I hope to be cheering this kid on one day... I still hope to be cheering on federic and senyshyn and zboril… hell if Cameron mann or kyle wanzig returned to the team this year id hope to find a reason to cheer them too

personally I tend to like big bodied guys who know how to play defense... so all in all... im fairly happy but we seem to be piling up left shots. I think we will have to trade some of our kids for other pieces to fill holes.

So Krejci is a UFA in 2 seasons, and plays "old as you say.

Yet, you believe we can dish him for a legitimate 2nd line scoring winger?

Huh?

Though our current top 3 centers are right shots.

Not one for one, but in a package with other players/prospects/picks. His salary is high, but some teams would want him; he has value, but it'd be great to deal him now rather than keep him for 2 more years.

Krejci and Marchand First 20 a mess

Over the years from Reggie Leach to Geoff Courtnall to Joe Thornton and Barry Pederson and Al Secord lots of early struggle

Sweeney has said Studnicka and Frederic could start out early as wingers even though end up centers

No doubt- I am in no way writing the kid off, but he never looked to me like what I thought he might- a guy that needed some experience and seasoning but had some basic NHL tools. Frederic looked like he did not belong on the ice at all. I am hoping he'll turn out, and no reason to think he won't, but he looked like a long-term project based on that early viewing.

Don Sweeney on Beecher:

“I just think the skating ability, first of all. He really covers a lot of ice, and the game’s not going to slow down. It’s not, and he can get to the net. He can get inside."

“There’s growth left in his game. He’s already a big, strong guy, and the skating ability and the ice he can cover. You look at the second half of his year and the production, without playing in primary, productive roles."

“Our guys did a lot of work in terms of the character of the player, and we believe there’s growth still available. He doesn’t necessarily pop offensively because he hasn’t been put in those situations, but he’s going to be a real hard guy to play against. … I know Michigan sees him as a top-two-line guy, and we’ll see the growth that comes from there.”

No they are not, but they are attempting too. Just as you are doing in this post. By expressing distaste as your doing your trying to ridicule my post, trying to discourage me from posting, if not you would have left the Jesus Christ out of it.

Maybe there is an algorithm that sensors horrible grammar. Don't take it personally.

It's interesting to give a second read of what the different scouting reports had to say about John Beecher now that the draft is over and he is on the Bruins. Great size and balance, hard to move from the front of the net, knows how to use his body to win puck battles on the boards and corners, and dynamic passing vision. Now where have I heard this said about a Bruins center drafted in the first round before...:sarcasm:

Yes I know it's silly to compare Beecher to Joe Thornton. Especially when Thornton was a number one overall pick and is going to be a first ballot HoF while Beecher just got drafted and won't see a shift in the NHL for at least a year, possibly two while developing at the University of Michigan. I just found it interesting that its been over two decades since the Bruins drafted Thornton and they end up drafting a center that is virtually identical in terms of size and play style to him in at #30 in the first round. I just hope Beecher lives up to what he is projected to be and doesn't end up being another first round bust like Zach Hamill.
