Coyle has fantastic hands
Fantastic is a really strong word.
Coyle has fantastic hands
I'd love to see some examples.
Then youtube them.
This is the one that always pops to mind for me. A little old at this point, but he still has the hands.Options were sparse, but I took the challenge. Most popular clip I saw was Coyle getting pummeled by Cody McLeod.
Kinda surprised JEE hasn't fought yet with the physicality he's been showing. Almost thought it would happen during game 2 in Winnipeg.
I'll second this motion. I thought this was the Coyle threadThe Coyle talk should move to the Coyle thread? There's examples there already too.
Still waiting for signs of offensive life from the kid. He does know that it's actually a good thing to score goals, doesn't he?
I was really hoping for that two. Watched him in the WJC-20. He looked like a freightrain with vision and hands. And a sick wrister. Was really hoping to see that from him when he came over.

Playing against 18/19 year olds, even elite ones, is far different than NHLers.
I'm still convinced that he'd be a different player right now if he was treated a little different last year.
Offcourse, but i was hoping for him to develop his game so he could use those assets in the NHL.
I dunno...I think if a guy can play, he can play. Ek can certainly play a sound game defensively, but I don't see any offensive talent, so far. He certainly looks big and strong enough, and isn't slow.
That play last night where he missed the completely empty net from 5 feet away was extremely disappointing, you could see him deflate after that unfortunate play. He gets to the right spots, makes excellent defensive plays, but can’t buy a goal for anything.
If he ever gets any kind of confidence, he could be great, right now it’s not good though.
I like EK alot, he can play defense, he skates hard every shift, and shoots the puck. His shooting percentage is terrible in the NHL, there is no reason to think that goals wont come. He is extremely young, not all players are on the same development curve and come into the league and score 30.
In 93 games (this season and last), Mikko Koivu has 8 even-strength goals and 54 high-danger chances. In 81 games, Joel Eriksson-Ek has 5 goals and 50 chances.
One of these guys plays mainly with Mikael Granlund, one played mainly with Daniel Winnik.
Complaining that he shoulda been in the AHL last season is pointless.
