I agree with 2 years minimum. Wouldn't be upset with 3 or 4 though. Take time and season him just right.

If he has two years left in Sweden, then three years minimum.

So 2 years in the SEL; 9 game tryout and if he sticks, he sticks, if not AHL for a year.

Would rather give him 9 games to see what the NHL is like, then put him in the AHL for the season regardless. Unless he absolutely blows us away and puts up like 15+ points in those 9 games.

Remember it will be his first year in America.

Am I in the minority thinking JEE can be more than just a 40 pointer and imagining a 50ish 20-30 type of two-way centerman?

50-60 is what I'm thinking.

Yeah, that's fair. Just saying that we should give him a chance to force our hand is all.

We probably will develop him like we did with J.Larsson.

1- SEL regular minutes, WJC U20 experience
2 - AHL regular minutes, WJC U20 captain, NHL call uo
3 - AHL top six/NHL bottom six

Absolutely.

Same here. Are we weird? Because safe doesn't mean low upside IMO.

I think he can be a 55-65 point player. Guess that makes me the weirdest one. That's at his peak of course, but we have such good wingers, I don't think something like 30-35-65 is totally impossible.

Think he hovers around 50-55 most of his career though.

Not mad, but not thrilled either... will see how it plays out. Konecny fell and was there for the taking... I'd have preferred that pick. This one feels "safe" by comparison.

And I'm ECSTATIC about that! Sure, he's safe but a safe 55 pointer as opposed to someone who has much higher risk to reach, what, 70 points? A difference of 15 isn't enough for me to pass up on the 6-2 centerman who was the top scorer in the J20, one of the best Swedish U18ers, and regular player in the SHL.

God, I'm loving this pick!

Fletcher said a big reason they picked Eriksson Ek was because he is a center. There were two centers available who will probably be better than him available,White and Merkley,I don't understand why they would pick Eriksson Ek over either of those two.

Not sure how many will make the NHL, but we have some big boys coming into the organization:

Ek 6'2"
Tuch 6'4"
Gilmour 6'4"
Lucia 6'3"
Peterson 6'2"

And already have 6'2" Nino and 6'3" Coyle.

Even if just Ek and Tuch pan out, nobody is going to accuse us of being small.

Merkley could end up serving hamburgers at the local bar and grill in 10 years. I bet you'd be more angry if Fletcher picked a first round bust than someone who's a very safe bet to be AT LEAST a great 3C.

White will probably be a 2C, but his potential is not so much higher than JEE that I'm going to lose sleep over it.

He looks like the lovechild of Dany Heatley and Evgeni Malkin

Pretty sure Ek, Tuch and Lucia will all eventually make it to the NHL.

No hesitation by CF, like they said we scouted that area for brodin so I'm sure we got a solid look at him. Guy who can play in all situations sounds good to me.
