What is a number 1 in your opinion?

32 teams = 32 number 1 D.

Is Reilly not a top 32 D in the NHL in your opinion?

My guess is he probably is, but it is difficult to really rate defenders as there are different roles they play.
One could speculate about whether Toews and Makar are both 1st pairing #1 defenders.
In my eyes Rielly has regressed the past couple of years. I thought his skating would hold up better. Maybe it is quickness rather than top speed, or he wears out as season progresses.

Do you remember Burke's draft where he said he purposely didn't draft Europeans?
If Yzerman had that stance would the Lightning have won a single Cup?
How much of Yzerman's reputation is built on that one selection? Kucherov


My guess 90+% of all GM's who win their 1st. Cup had previously not won a Cup.
