He won a cup as 2nd pairing with St.L and went to the finals last year as a 2nd pairing dman......He is a good player and is easily a 2nd pairing dman on almost any team.

I would take Edmundson all day every day over Quinn Hughes in a playoff series.

I agree on the first point, but not the second one. Hughes was pretty good in the playoffs when he scored 16 pts in 17 games as a rookie.

Ditto to the above post. So very difficult to lose a loved one and that Joel Edmundson took the time is very admirable. He'll have no regrets.

Points for literally tells half the story. We saw for ourselves how our less than stellar offence feasted on his frailties.

I'd take last year's Eddy over QH today and twice on Sundays, but then I want my defenders to be able to actually defend and dominate in their own end first and foremost.

Edmundson was good defensively and consistent, but he's not elite at it. Hughes has elite offensive abilities and can have a much bigger impact on a team. A team definitely has a better chance at winning a game with Hughes's ability to create offense than Edmundon's ability to prevent goals.

I had mentioned a comment by journalist Martin Leclerc who had said that Edmundson was so highly thought of as a teammate that he was likely going to be the team's next captain.

This comment by Anderson lends credence to that view:

Even though the Canadiens have been deprived of Edmundson's services all year long, his teammates say he's still very much a key figure in the fold.

"He's an amazing guy, on and off the ice. He's a true leader for all the guys in that locker room. With this year being tough, with the injury that he's had, he still feels a part of our team. He's in there every single day working hard, doing the things that he needs to do, and I know a lot of guys in that locker room look up to him," praised Anderson. "I know playing against him, he's that steady guy that you don't want to be on the ice with because you're going to get a pretty good whack and it's going to be tough to score goals against him. He's a great presence and we're very fortunate to have him."

Last word I heard is that he may play this Wednesday?
That would be amazing!

It's very easy to have setbacks when dealing with a long term back injury.

He won't play Wednesday if he hasn't even participated in contact practices, though. Whenever he does come back, you just gotta cross your fingers he has no setbacks, or its pretty much confirmed that he will deal with it for the rest of his playing days.
