2x2.5 seems like the perfect contract. He's outrageously inconsistent, although he's been very good since he got called back up last year. Kind of sucked at the start of the season but so did most of the team so I don't think it's fair to single him out.

Nah man. Guy has no heart duh.
I can't say I agree with you or disagree but that guy is a mystery. Should we resign a question mark guy? A guy that have every single tool in his toolbox but you might think sometimes he have no tool at all. We let him walk (or trade him), we make an huge mistake or we resign him we make an huge mistake. Flip a coin or let the animal zoo decide, thats where we are now with that guy.

Two years is ideal. Gives Armia some security and in that time Tuch and Flo X will have 3 years in at the pro level and hopefully one of them will show he belongs and sticks full time.

If you want, think about it this way. If we let him go, who takes his place and brings what he brings? He's our #1 guy along the boards, we won't be able to bring in someone with the same skillset.

If you want to have a successful team you need to have guys that have different skills for different situations. I believe he's one of those guys.

Also, similarly to Evans, I think he'll sign for more than what a few of us here might want.

If I was Armia and I want security, I would want a long term contract, no way I would sign for only two years, that's not the definition of security.

It will probably be Armia's last chance to sign a big contract before the end of his career. He won't accept a discount is my guess. Hughes/Gorton will have to pay or he is as good as gone imo.

As long as he's not overpaid and not too much term. Habs need to be able to have a b plan if he doesn't deliver for whatever reason. He's paid a lot with his contract by Bergegin and most nights he didn't deserve his salary. But today is now and right now he's a very useful player. I'm not into the discussions you might have with others here about his salary and his term if he's resign. Some might laught if they think Armia will sign for cheap (2,2). We can expect a little raise of salary because his agent knows the market, Armia might want to go ufa next summer. I don't know how other gms think of him. It takes one crazy gm big fan of him. And maybe because of his mental Armia is playing better with the Habs jersey than another jersey. Maybe he's not like Lehkonen, Danault and Kulak.

If he wasn't worth his previous contract then not sure why anyone should expect a raise? On top of which he passed through waivers, meaning every single team out there looked at him and said no thanks. There shouldn't be a lot of confidence that teams out there are in love with him and will lineup with big offers. If a GM out there was a big fan of his, he would've been claimed when he was on waivers or traded for.

There's this idea that because the cap is going up everybody gets a raise which is simplistic and often wrong. The reality of the cap rising is that the star and near star players get paid the bulk of that cap, but the veteran depth guys who are the ones who get squeezed because there's always a young guy who maybe isn't as good but is good enough with the potential to be better who can play the role and do it cheaply. It's why you quite often see perfectly serviceable guys on PTOs.

If he goes to FA he'll get offers, but they aren't going to be big bucks and lots of years.

He plays much better since the waive. It's like two completely different players. But I get your point.
Or tell that to folks here who wants him resign. Personally I would like him traded. He had his fat contract for years, I think I know him enough and I want a guy like Tuch to take his place and Habs keep their $$$ for the next contracts like Hutson, Demidov or an ufa they might sign next summer.
