Joe Thornton hit on Perreault

The media calls them out fairly regularly. It’s only the league higher ups that have any stroke and they seem fine with the status quo.
You know damn well Parros does not have the final say on anything besides fines and some run of the mill suspensions.

Just like officiating, the league isn’t ok with what is happen. They’re the ones telling them how it should be done.

I think the media and fans are starting to get on board, that there need to be changes to the DoPS and officiating. It’s just up to the players now to push those higher ups to act

There are tons of players feel this way but are hesitant to speak out, likely because of the way they may be interpreted. Don’t want to be called “soft” or that they’re trying to make excuses. There is also the “I don’t want to get fined” aspect, but I think that’s less than what people think. Ultimately the only way to get past this is to keep pushing, as fans and members of the media, so that the players know they have the support.

Unless I’m misunderstanding your post it seems like we’re essentially saying the same thing.

IMO the media and fans have been plenty vocal about their dislike of the DOPS rulings over the years on enough occasions to give the appearance their voices aren’t given enough consideration to effect change

Thornton does his best Reggie Dunlop impersonation to get a few games off to be 'by himself in the box' and the NHL punishes him by making him play more hockey. Ahh poetic justice.

Yeah I'm not sure how anyone that has watched Joe Thornton play this year would think the DoPS has done the Leafs a favor here.

All of Leafs nation was praying for a suspension so we could finally experience a game where we iced the best available players.

Yes, but with the way other certain fans and people think (everything is “soft”, “keep your head up”, etc) you’re going to need as much as possible. We are getting there but have some work to do. You aren’t going to change everybody’s mind but the more we can get the better chance we have of making changes there and with the officiating

I remember when hockey players used to be tough. McDavid's headshot was far more egregious and he got a fine.

You should be suspended for calling yourselves Leafs nation.

Red Sox wore that out 15 years ago.
