A bit surprising given no one else but Finley was claimed in this round of waivers. I never saw a long-term future for Finley in Buffalo, but he was a consistent cog on Rochester's back-end. Hopefully this gives Schiestel a chance on defense, as I've forgotten what he looks like back there; either that or force Regier to make a signing.

Boy, talk about a battle of unlikely things. Rolston actually allowing Schiestel to play defense or Darcy actually replacing a key player. We could be here a while.

The Isles are probably just grabbing him to see what he's got in camp. I wouldnt be surprised if he is waived at the end of camp. Because at that point better dmen will likely be available on waivers as teams finalize rosters and waive their last cuts.

Thats a good point. Tough to take for the Amerks though who are already shorthanded.

Im glad for Joe Finley here. Maybe he gets a shot, he wasn't going to make our lineup, probably ever. He's a good resurrection and frankly, reflects well on Buffalo because they gave him a shot at rebuilding his career. Hopefully will help build the good will around the league towards the franchise.

On a hockey note, cant see him playing more than 6th man minutes.

2 things...

I blame Visnovsky

and

NO WAY they risk sending Brennan down now.

Calvin de Haan going down for the season in October didn't help matters, either. The Isles have no defensive depth right now, so I see why they took the flyer.

As someone who views Rochester as nothing more than a training ground, good. More playing time for Pysyk, JGL, Matt McKenzie, McNabb. If Rochester winning hockey games is a priority to you, sorry.

Says someone who doesnt live in Rochester and have to WATCH what is sure to be a terrible team from here out...

Lets wait and see how things shake out by next weekend. I know it sucks right now but things could look a little better in a week.

If they send Pardy down, I believe it would count $1.1M against their cap ($2.0M minus $900k). With their current cap room, that shouldn't matter I suppose...

It will be easy to sneak Pardy down after camps when everyteam is sending down players.

Well they're not going to keep 9 defensemen. And Brennan won't be waived. So unless there's a trade, he'll be the odd man out I'm guessing.

Brennan might be waived, or Leopold or another defenseman traded, but ya it is possible but everyone I feel like is just automatically assuming that Pardy will be in Rochester and realistically he might not, he might not even make it through waivers. He was a serviceable D guy in Calgary before Dallas.

Because of the loss of Finley? Even if he was their best D, not sure his loss makes it a sure thing that they will be a terrible team.

They've lost Foligno, Hodgson, Brennan and now Finley. That's going to have a huge impact. Finley only adds to the already glaring issues.
