Joe Bowen calls thread - HOLY MACKINAW!

Back during one of our series against the Bruins I ended up driving a ton for family reasons, and had to listen to a few games on the radio. Listening to Bowen for those games in my car, rather than watching the TV broadcast, ended up being some great memories for me. Thanks, Bowen, for all you do.

His voice is the Maple Leafs, for me. That sound is as iconic.

I also have many, many hours on the road listening to Bowen as core memories. I actually prefer it to watching depending on who is in the broadcast booth. He really paints a great picture and has a perfect voice for it.

Bowen is a lot less epic than a Bob Cole or a Chris Cuthbert or even a Jim Hughson in terms of the atmosphere and gravitas but he’s more fun and sometimes that’s more appropriate to the event.

Exactly right! For the midweek games during the regular season, we don’t need Christ Cuthbert calling the game. We need someone like Joe. I really miss him a lot.
