Confirmed with Link: JJ Peterka Traded to Utah for Michael Kesselring and Josh Doan

Byram better be returning a f***ING RANSOM. Utah traded a #5 with 4 potential as the centerpiece for a 23 year old 65-70 point player with potential for ppg +. Adam’s I mean this with all my heart go f*** yourself you scum bag

I don’t have faith it will happen. It needs to, but I’d be surprised.
I mean there is a high probability you get something for Byram in the next few days, after that it may get tough unless they move 9 and or prospects as well. So that's where we are both skeptical from history.

I think you're underrating Doan here. He sure seems like that middle 6 PITA to play against that nearly all playoff teams have.

Bruins fan here I think you guys will be fine . Doan is got that leadership qualities and is gonna be a player for you guys. Hes gonna be the surprise of the trade.
Players don't get better in Buffalo, in fact they get disgruntled and lose their love for hockey but I love the optimism.

Doan looks like he cares and if even has 10 percent of his fathers capabilities you guys hit a homerun. Shane doan was a true warrior and I see that josh has some of that grit too. Also in 60 games he has popped like 30 points. Only 23 lots of time for this kid.

Looking around at reactions throughout the league and the consensus is everyone dunking on us harder than Charles Barkley did to that poor Angolan at the 92 Olympics.
Holy hyperbole. There are PLENTY of reactions that think we did just fine. Yes, maybe a slight loss of value.....but there are plenty of people out there that like the guys we brought in.

Im not gonna bash it.

At first, a lot thought we lost the Byrum trade and the Savoie trade. So far so good on both.

Peterka could very well become a 40/40 or, guy Skinner-lite.

Look at it this way if you don't like the value -

Now it looks like the Sabres are in need for a top 6 winger, like a Peterka ya don't say?
Well when he shops for one he can say look, I just made a fresh comp for a top 6 winger.

Let’s say for a moment that the rumored 3 for Peterka refusal was true

Would you trade Doan+Kesselring for 3?

A good reminder to everyone about the ignore user feature (no, not you Z ;)

People are overreacting to this trade because Buffalo has been run like a clown show but this trade is not nearly as bad as it seems.

Kesselring is a real good playerand valuable asset. Getting a smooth skating, rangy, two-way right-shot defensemen who’s 25 years old and cost controlled is next to impossible in today’s NHL. Take any high pick defensemen that plays exactly like Kesselring and the value would be extremely high. No one watched Arizona and not many watched Utah. Not many people actually know Kesselring so most people just assume he’s your standard 3rd pairing guy but he’s not. Great player you guys will absolutely love him and I think he actually helps you guys win more than Peterka. Scoring is not an issue in Buffalo…

We filled two major needs?

A tougher RHD to pair with Power and a gritty/grindy/disturbing forward who has 20/20 potential?

It makes all the sense. Granted, more would have been nice. But the pieces fit like gloves.
No we didn’t. We hope we did. I’m tired of getting players we hope can be something they’ve never been consistently.

Waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit a second here.

Utah signed JJP to a FIVE year deal? FIVE? As in.....they only bought out ONE UFA year and still gave him $7.7M per? Hmmm.
I thought the same thing and people were acting like it was a steal for Utah.

No freaking thanks on that number for only five years. He's going to be a $15M UFA at the end of the deal if he's the GUY people are making him out to be (I do think he's an offensive star that will flirt with 40, but the furthest thing from an all-arounder).

Whatever, next April we will see if it was hyperbole. If we are headed to the playoffs feel free to bring this post up and drag me harder than the giant afro pick in Spaceballs (I would be overjoyed to be wrong here).
