Was the two top 6ers they wanted to add including Peterka in the lineup?I really hope that Doan isn’t one of the top-6 acquisitions they supposedly wanted to make

3rd in flat minutes (thanks to myriad injuries). 6th in average TOI. 6th in ES min per game. How he’d rank for TOI amongst Utah’s D?
30 points for a guy with little to no pp time is encouragingNHL.com has him at 17:41 ATOI across 82 games, practically all ES minutes.
If he can play 16 min ES per game and then add PK duties.......that is exactly what we need.
He got some PP time on the 2nd unit when both Durzi and Marino were out.30 points for a guy with little to no pp time is encouraging

When is the last trade the Sabres made that you instantly felt they got the best player in the deal?
Dahlin averaged 24:14 and Byram 22:42….?Bowen Byram had the most TOI for Sabres defenders, surely he was our #1?
I'm glad we will get to see! Sabres trades still hit like crack (until you see the return usually!)I hope you're right and teams dont realize how bad he was away from Dahlin. I have a hard time finding more than a handful of rosters needing offensive left shot D. All the buzz was teams asking about JJ not Byram.
I'm expecting another deal of lesser parts.
Don't worry if he's not quite ready for full time second pairing usage that involves covering for our weakest defender. Marty Wilford will surely get him thereIn both Es and overall TOI for Utah he was their 6th d-man
Olli Maata played more on average than him.

Norris, Byram...When is the last trade the Sabres made that you instantly felt they got the best player in the deal?
When Norris is healthy, he's decidedly better than Cozens. When is the last trade the Sabres made that you instantly felt they got the best player in the deal?
Was about to say Cozens isn’t a defenseman but then read the post you’re replying toCozens for Norris
The lack of PK time is a little worrisome given our current crop of blueliners. He got some PP time on the 2nd unit when both Durzi and Marino were out.
I really think he's a bit of a do-it-all #4 (2nd pair RHD), but decidedly defense-first.
Is he?When Norris is healthy, he's decidedly better than Cozens.
We could also give up less goals with Kesselring and Doan than if JJ was on the roster.I’m not really seeing that. He’s the same age as Peterka and hasn’t stuck in the NHL for a full season. It isn’t easy to score 20 goals in the NHL, and he won’t be getting top 6 minutes. He was on pace for 11 goals last year, and 10-15 goals feels about right.
Yeah. he's better than cozens by sitting in the press box far away from the ice tooIs he?
I think he is. Cozens has a higher potential......but he was getting further from that potential by the day.Is he?
Would you guys have been happier with a deal like Rossi and Ohgren over this one?
