Confirmed with Link: JJ Peterka Traded to Utah for Michael Kesselring and Josh Doan

The value on the Savoie trade was never bad. People overrate prospects.

This value is disgustingly atrocious.

But it’s what happens when you can’t take on money and can’t trade for futures.
You mean we traded an entry level contract for a guy we'll have to now pay much more? Pegula is drunk on spending! It's the only explanation!

We just got a player who could be exactly what we needed on the backend, a budding powerfoward and net front PP guy (something else we needed), got rid of an incomplete player who didn't want to be here, and saved a whole bunch of cap space in the process.

I dont have a narrative i need to feed. I just evaluate everything on the merits.

To me, this is smart work.

This is the kind of return that would've been right for Byram. I like getting Kesselring, but not for JJ. Why is Byram still here and Peterka gone. Initial reaction is I would've rather kept Peterka and gotten a defenseman using #9 and Byram.

Lw: Benson, Quinn, Zucker, malentsyn,kulich
RW: tuch, Thompson,Greenway doan
C : Norris, McLeod, Krebs, Lafferty

I wonder if doan could be the 2c they were looking for or if more wingers are on the way out
I doubt it, RW seems to be where he fits.
My guess would be 3rd line RW, solid cerebral 2-way forward.

People are going to have to get used to the fact that Buffalo is a budget team and doesn’t plan to ever be a contender. Every sport has them, I think it’s time to accept that Buffalo is one of them. The Pittsburgh pirates still have fans, they’re surviving okay last time I checked.

You think Kesselring was their 6th defenseman last season? Most of the season he was their top defenseman because of injuries
He averaged 16 minutes across the 82 games. No idea what the trend was like across the entire season, though.

One issue I have with this deal is that we stayed the same age, and actually lost quite a bit of experience in terms of games played (assuming Byram is replaced by Kesselring it’s about 200 less games played). We’ll probably only see a couple trades and maybe one UFA signing, and the situation is the same after this deal.

In reality we need to ship out 4-5 players under the age of 25 and replace them with veterans over the age of 25.

I know your really trying tonight but... 🍸 :D
I feel like I should say this:

I like/love Kesselring. I like Josh Doan.

I still think that this trade feels one decent-ish piece shy of even (2nd rounder, etc).

This very much reminds me of the Savoie/McLeod trade -- felt like we got hosed a bit value-wise, but filled a gaping hole. I think this trade does the same -- we get hosed a bit value-wise, but Kesselring is now our best right-handed Dman and Doan is a shit disturber who still has some offensive upside to him. And I think it's pretty well established that power forwards take longer to develop.

Not putting money on it but I wouldn't be surprised if Byram gets us more than JJ did.
Byram has the higher value and bigger pool of teams, that deal will get done though.

I hope you're right and teams dont realize how bad he was away from Dahlin. I have a hard time finding more than a handful of rosters needing offensive left shot D. All the buzz was teams asking about JJ not Byram.

I'm expecting another deal of lesser parts when Byram gets traded.

He averaged 17:41. And yeah I watched a whole lot of Utah games. He played top pairing a bunch and 2nd PP when Durzi and Marino were injured
