Peace out!! Same with Laine, nowhere near the player HE (and many fans around here) thinks he is.

With Werenski still around for hopefully his entire career and Mateychuk BUSTING at the seams, Jiricek’s value to the organization was minimal.

And that’s without all of his current flaws to do with his game AND mindset, and almost looking at his “ceiling” as a player as a guarantee. Hes NOT a good skater and does NOT think the game well.

Don’t let the door hit yea, Dave. Now it all depends what Waddell starts flipping these assets into.

You do realize we just traded a 6th overall pick, a rare to find RHD blue chip prospect for a package you typically see for a good TDL rental ?
You realize we just traded a FORMER 6th overall pick that was never going to be a fit here with how the organization is moving forward and prioritizing skill sets. He was Jarmo's pick.

If there were better options available I'm sure they would have been taken over this one.

Are we sure about that?
He wasn't a top 10 NHL draft pick so obviously he must NOT be a future NHL'er. :sarcasm:

I don’t see how it matters whether it was Jarmo’s pick or not, are we going to trade KJ and Fantilli as well ?

Unless there are credible reports Jiricek INSISTED on being traded, I don’t understand this urgency to get this type of package that I’m sure we could’ve still gotten later as Jiricek is playing well in the A

I guess I'm the only CBJ fan that isn't pissed right now.

Waddell is clearly building a certain style of team here. You need to be able to skate. Jiricek will never be remotely a strong skater in the NHL. Patrik Laine damn sure wouldn't have fit.

We got a 1 2 3 and 4 for a guy who can't skate. Hell still be useful in the NHL, maybe even pretty good, but I ain't mad.

I believe in what we're building. I love the way the hurricanes play. If he's building us into that I'm all for it.

Portzline said conditional 1st round pick. What's the condition? If Minnesota for whatever reason collapse, pick becomes next year???

Unfortunate Jiricek didn't pan out. I was hoping he was the D(from their prospects)of the future that they built around. Thankfully Mateychuk could be that guy.

Whether he wanted out 100% or not, that will come out eventually.

Based off the history of claiming that " he was playing well" and then comparing himself to other players in his draft class getting time, I doubt he was happy.

All of that really doesn't matter as you had a player, despite when he was picked, not performing.

His skating is poor and his pinches are even worse. The only value he had was potential and unless he learns how to move better, that won't be worth anything.

Top 5 protected pick. If that happens we get their unprotected first next year

yeah, a 6th OA pick who can’t skate to save his life and has little to none awareness in his own zone. his IQ in the defensive zone is baffling.

see ya david.

i’m not pissed in the slightest. I have 100 percent confidence in don and what he’s building here in the capital.

Great trade, got a good return, not only was Jiricek a weak skater but his decision making was weak. Wonder if Jiricek will play when Brodin is back

Agreed. It might be hard for some of us to understand actually having a plan and actually following it.

I'm convinced they had that same talk they had with LDBB and Mateychuk with Jiricek about wanting him to develop in the AHL and really fine tune his game and it didn't go as well as it did with the others. The only reason to quickly move him is if they think either his play or his attitude aren't fixable or worth working on.

Not quite the return I wanted, but hopefully we can get one or two usable players outta the picks. No need getting upset until we see what they become.

What plan? There is no plan here. He gave away the guy for next to nothing. Not a single one of those assets will amount to anything even remotely supportive of anything even distantly resembling a plan. If you want to claim this was addition by subtraction, fine, but that's one hell of a stretch given that he was doing fine in the AHL. If the idea was to further a plan by moving Jiricek he could have at least tried to get actual useful assets.

replace ‘wild’ with ‘jackets’ in the title but…

good to hear he has seen PP and PK time consistently at the professional level
