Offer sheeting Nylander, Would cost us a top 5 pick next year. No way i'd consider that.Offer sheet Nylander? That would fit "doing things that aren't usually done"

So... where does the superstar come from? They could expedite things by start of 2019 by trading all our spare parts, aging vets & package TDL picks +(AA ?) for a core piece. (#1/#2Dmen/#2C), need 1RHD in Top 4 to replace Green. Also need a RHS preferably @ #2C. Target players in the 19-23 yr. range that aren't too established, have upside, are underrated/misused/cap casualties/need a fresh start/not clicking w/(current team/system/coach) etc. Justin Schultz was a perfect example of this.
They need to be scouting other teams heavily for players w/150-400 GP. Also sell while our players have any value left. Be very shrewd on term & $$ moving forward...No NTC/NMC for non-elite/non-core players.
Imagine a package of:
AA
+ late 1st (Nyquist)
+ late 3rd (Daley)
+ late 4th (Vanek ?)
+/- ?
for a #2ish/#3 solid Dman...Get creative. Maybe a Ellis or Ekholm tier Dman, possibly better,
for example, +/- to balance trade. That may or may not be overpayment, but that's not the point.
Sign a few core vets (27-30) in '19-'20.
Sign Duchene & Varlamov 2019
Sign at least 1 of: Trouba/Pietrangelo/Parayko in 2020
+Late 4th? (Howard)
+Late 3rd? (Jensen)
+Late 3rd? (Big E)
+Late 4th? (Kronner)...if he wants last shot at cup.
+ Nielsen (25% retention)
= ??
We need more RHShots on F&D.
I only said "core piece" as outlined in my trade scenario. Jimmy D. said "superstar"So... where does the superstar come from?
I disagree.They will be aggressive...
...at selling people at the deadline.
I'm fine with that.
Get more picks = more probabilities for a superstar to pan out.
Get more picks, get more picks, get more picks. Trade later quantity for a quality from a surplus which those players from extra picks will create.
It's the only plan.
Being lucky in draft lottery is another plan, but you can't do much for that to happen. It just happens if it happens. Pure luck.
Most proable pick for the 2019 draft for us is still 4th overall, not matter how bad this team will be at this season.
That's reality. No reason to hope for losses. We will lose anyway.
sounded like an offer sheet to meOffer sheet? Or is he talking about tanking?
So... where does the superstar come from?
I disagree.
He said they're impatient and they want to win.
Okay, why does he specifically say they're impatient?yeah they want to win... on the long run.
Same with that dumb ass in Buffalo that tried to fast forward the rebuild by trading for kane and RoR. You can't build the second story before the foundation is set.I disagree.
He said they're impatient and they want to win. He basically said they can't do anything right now because of our cap situation, but after this season they won't have the same restraints.
How anyone could look at Abby, Nielsen, and Helm this season and think they'll have any place on a relatively competitive team is beyond me.
Chia was impatient and aggressive too.
Lol after 5 years you now believe that getting elite talent is by drafting high. Gee I wonder what changed. It was totally Holland's plan all along.Drafting multiple times at ~TOP7.
We have made it now once.
Oh mannnn, CLEARLY Buffalo was on the fast track to winning cups after their great job of tanking until Ryan O'Reilly came along.Same with that dumb ass in Buffalo that tried to fast forward the rebuild by trading for kane and RoR. You can't build the second story before the foundation is set.
They tried to stimulate their rebuild and traded for 2 roster players. Both players are now gone and they're still trying to claw their way out of the bottom.Oh mannnn, CLEARLY Buffalo was on the fast track to winning cups after their great job of tanking until Ryan O'Reilly came along.
Hopefully we can also grab a gamebreaker in UFA.

1) that is a terrible analogy. Their is no physical dependcy in roster building. ie. you can have top picks and acquire NHL talent at the same time.
2) Their net outcome from acquiring Kane and RoR was 2 x 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick (or skinner depending on how you want to break it down), a 4th round pick, Thompson, another prospect and two roster players that could potentially be traded for more picks.
3) Im sure sabre fans are sooo frustrated (/s) with having those kind of EXTRA future assets on top of Rienhart, Eichel, Ristolainen, Mittlestadt, Dahlin and most of their own picks.
No way. That would take our #1 pick which will be top 5.
Who knows what old man Jimmy D thinks is a good idea. This is the guy who called Mantha a bust as soon as he struggled a little bit after his injury. He's the kind of guy to make brash decision, and he's an influence on Holland.Offer sheeting Nylander, Would cost us a top 5 pick next year. No way i'd consider that.

"net outcome"? huh? so Kane and ROR were free for them to acquire? net takes into account the costs as well, that's literally what it means
And outcome is literally "the way a thing turns out." So the Net 'way things turned out' was buffalo ending up with those pieces.
But thanks for splitting hairs on the english language and missing the point that those trades didn't prevent the team from rebuilding.
