So I am not following anything about this guy but I do see mocking posts about him. So basically what I understand is that we picked a mediocre prospect and that we overlooked better picks? Please tell me this is true so that I continue to have no faith in this year's draft when they pick in the middle again like brainless monkeys...

The Flyers had a player on the board that many had in their top 5 talents in the draft. That was Zeev Buium.

The Flyers traded down instead of selecting him and then drafted a player who only had speed as a plus skill in his pre-draft assessment.

Luchanko is a defensively responsible player who also finds himself in the right areas in the offensive zone, but does not impress much with the puck on his stick. A middle six upside is probably his most likely positive outcome.

Buium is a special player and will also be compared to Luchanko by Flyers fans who were upset at trading down there.

How many points does Buium have in the NHL?
I wasn't that impressed with him in the WJC games I saw, I didn't see anything that screamed special player.
He may turn out to be very good, he may turn out to be a little slow for the pro game.

Okay? :dunno:

Luchanko was wholly unimpressive at the WJC, significantly less noticeable than Buium, but I couldn't care less about a short form tournament.

Maybe we should just wait 3 years. :sarcasm:

Nothing new. Holmgren had a spare first rounder and a desire for Steve Emminger so he passed on John Carlson
It is short-sighted brainless moves like those that set franchises back decades.

Yeah...I remember Holmgren's reasoning....needed a RHD...was still young but more seasoned (in the NHL already) and had a good playoff showing that year against us (the worst rationale of them all) and since it was a high second round pick they felt they were essentially swapping for another first rounder in addition to Sbisa!

Edit: pardon on the last point..Carlson was a late 1st rounder not an early 2nd but Holmgren said they were getting a more seasoned 1st rounder with Eminger.

Lol. I remember screaming at the TV when I heard him interviewed. Yet he is still considered a "titan" and valued for his input.

STAB MY EYE WITH A TOOTHPICK!

Luchanko was limited to a 4th line role and PK killing and protecting leads at the end of the game.
Kept hoping Guelph would trade him to a team with talented wings so he can work on his offensive game.
No such luck.

You brag about not watching CHL games. So, you’ve only ever watched Luchanko in a limited role in the WJC, along with a limited role in preseason and 4 NHL games where he did nothing offensively. The first thing you say about his offense is that he need to work on his shot, which no one else ever brought up. What do you even have to base your opinion on then?

I wasn't that impressed with him in the WJC games

History says that’s a ringing endorsement.

Dickinson was awful, after you spent the last few months creating a narrative that he was the Flyers dream pick. It has nothing to do with Buium. If everyone wanted some schmuck named Timmy Tuba, you’d find 25 contradictory reasons to dislike Timmy Tuba.

Correction..you mean no such "Luchanko"

You said that like Luchanko had points in the NHL. He played 4 games and scored no points.
