Jets win the Presidents' Trophy!

Draft and Develop and some great trades have made this team, it's the only way the team was going to get to where they are tonight. No high priced UFA's are going to come here and maybe that's for the best.
One of the things that makes the NHL different from most other professional leagues is that, more than other sports, it really is a team game. You don't need superstars to win championships in the NHL. In fact, I'd suggest that it often helps if you don't have any.

How much better would the Leafs be if they weren't tying up so much of their salary cap on Matthews and Marner. Same with the Oilers and McDavid and Draisaitl. I believe there's a greater chance that Matthews and McDavid retire without a Stanley Cup (Marcel Dionne, 21st-century version) than Scheifele or Hellebuyck.

Now if these superstars were willing to sign for four million dollars less than they're getting, they'd have a way better chance to win the Stanley Cup, because their team could afford the depth and careful team building that Winnipeg has done.

So happy to follow the Jets this year
My earliest memories as a Jets fan was listening to the Jets 1.0 home game on CJOB as a boy
We had few superstars like Hawerchuk, Selanne and Tkachuk over the years but never a complete team that was dominant through the season like the 24-25 Jets team.
Such a fun ride this year.
Hope to continue the ride post season into June!

It's been a long time coming.

For a small market team, struggling to fill the rink at times, a team that had to deal with players wanting out since their return to Winnipeg, #1 team designated on No Trade Clauses...to rise above them all. Never thought I'd see this happen in my lifetime.

I'm so glad Scott Arniel got to use all his coaching experience to lead this team. Brought in good people to work with. He has successfully transitioned his experience with a winning Jets team in the Ducky era to the next level.

All these career years, contract years from players, it didn't phase Chevy. He's not a new kid on the block anymore. Maybe he gets some recognition from the NHL this year.

Thank you to all the players who put on the show for 81 games, who wanted to be the best they could be this season.

From what I see, UFA’s will usually hurt your team. They are very expensive, and cost your team depth.

Last year it was Monahan, who I believe signed for about $ 30 mil over 5 years, going by memory, and also Tofolli, who signed for big bucs down in California. Both would have been bad deals for the Jets.

Then look at Kevin Hayes, who signed for big money with the Flyers, and way too much.

Last year,Stephen Stamkos signed for huge money with Nashville, and the Preds have done nothing.

It is a blessing in disguise we haven’t signed any of these aged out UFA’s, and thrown our Cap way out of sync.

The kind of team that will win in a Cap environment, are teams like Vegas, Florida, and the Jets that have a lot of upper middle players, that give their team depth.

It’s all about the Cap, and keeping contracts reasonable, and having great depth on your team.

Chevy re-signed Scheifele and Helly long term (despite many doubters), convincing them that they would be surrounded with help, and a new culture. Big trades like moving PLD, and quiet moves like Schenn and Tanev, the D and D of Perfetti and Sandberg.......have produced a very tight group, well coached by Arniel.....

Nice work.

Helle wanted to re sign here only if the team was going to be a contender, he has to be happy with his decision, also he is a big part of the Jets climb to being the best team and winning this Trophy

That's one of the best parts IMO - that the (few) players that actually wanted to sign or re-sign in Winnipeg will be really glad that they did.

No it was just TSN's last Jets broadcast of the season, so they bid adieu. Sportsdreck from here on out.

The prestige is nice but I care way more about the home ice advantage, I hope we can use it well and everyone's all healed up and ready to go for game 1. Never even crossed my mind at the beginning of the year this could ever be a real possibility, this experience has my expectations raised for this group going forward in the future. Proud moment indeed 🥲

Just reading some posts on the mains about the Jets winning the President's trophy. Some are good posts but man some people, the regular season doesn't mean shit . I find that hilarious, ya being the best team in the entire NHL for 82 games doesn't mean shit. How about the fact if you are able to do this you have home ice advantage throughout the playoffs no matter who you play. Or the fact playing that good during the regular season actually gets you in the playoffs.

Also think Bowness should get a lot of credit for tightening up the system and the room - basically taking the fall so Arniel could step in and move forward.

But mostly for unlocking Morrissey - under Bowness/Arniel Jomo has had 3 career years - essentially double his previous career high - and I believe three straight Norris nominations.

He didnt unlock Helle but three straight years of .920 plus is unheard of and the Jets system deserves a lot of credit.

And finally - recognizing that Samberg could be an elite talent.

There will always people that will look down their noses at this team and city as they live in their 300 sq foot cubicle paying outrageous rents thinking they got it made.
