Post-Game Talk: Jets Win 3-2, 90 Points

There was a game this morning - nice to see that the Jets won. I watched the highlights. I think that game had the thinnest highlights from any hockey game I have seen all year. That's not necessarily a bad thing heading into the playoffs. Really good to string together a winning streak. Vegas is 9-1 in their last 10. We need to be playing our best hockey going into the playoffs if we want to make any noise this year.

I know some people were worried so I'll post it ... Jets magic number is 5 points to clinch playoff spot.
Magic number for 1st in the division is 16 points...or 15 maybe with the tie-breaker (Jets have 4 more ROW).

Assuming Nashville doesn't overtake the Jets in ROW over their last 9 games, the Jets win the division with a 7-2-1 record over their last 10. If the Jets go 5-5-0, Nashville needs to go 7-2-0 to take the division.

Type of game you got to get in and get your points and get the heck out of dodge. Same thing against Anaheim. Got to get those points and not look to that Vegas game.

Surprised that Bro got this game. It would now seem likely that Helly gets the Ducks and Bro gets Vegas. Helly didn't look too pleased when they showed him on the bench but I guess that could just be normal resting Helly face.

Hendricks wasn't awful.....

The road win was nice. but we edged out a team with about 8 lamp posts, in their line up

It looked like a very different Jets game last night. They must have brought someone in to talk defense ;) . Although we played the Kings game, got slowed and engaged in too many board battles, and chip n chase. Kings are one of the few teams where you do want to open it up a bit. The few times we skated, they were left in the dust. All in all, Im ok with it though. Maurice says its about prepping for the playoffs.......and I think thats what we saw.

The Kings are 2nd last in the league in shot generation this year. Nice to keep them under 20 shots, but they kinda suck.

Hendricks wasn’t horrible. He was at least better than his usual self but I won’t get too wrapped up in one game. A lot of breakouts still died on his stick but he made a few smart plays so good for him. I still don’t want him anywhere near the lineup in the playoffs and it’s clear that even when he has a good game for him, the compliments on his play are basically “he didn’t embarrass himself”.

**** it, I'll say it.

Gramps looked right in place out there tonight.

He was good. Just plain good.
Against the Kings, who are mostly in his age group.

If more Jets would confine themselves to simple, smart games like Gramps, we would be much better off. I don't think Gramps can do that against younger, faster teams though.

Got the 2 points but LA is just going through the motions right now waiting for the season to end . We still aren't hitting and skating like we can , not complaining but i actually would rather us play teams fighting for playoffs , games like this can create bad habits . The Ducks today , another team going through the motions , let's get the win tonight again boys . :thumbu:

If you let me know how today's game against the Ducks goes, I won't have to stay up late watching it tomorrow night.

Agreed, this is the type of game to get him some playing time, but I think there's only 3 or 4 teams in the league I'd put him in the lineup against and the Kings were one of them. The Ducks are actually another, but we'll see if Roslovic goes back in.

For all those clamouring for Morrow over Beaulieu, in what world did Morrow ever take those assignments and toi? He had some rough turnovers and out a few too many muffins at the net (he has very good shot actually), but outside of the typical big event stuff he was fine. Morrow on that top pairing would get pummeled. Neither play when the team is healthy regardless.

Not sure how the Jets get criticized so much for their neutral zone play when it was clear as day that the Kings game plan was to slow them down between the blue lines at all costs.

Pretty much resembled this to everyone other than the refs

Good win to keep things rolling after beating two of the top teams in the league. Starting the road trip off with a win keeps them looser.

When healthy Niku is #7, Beaulieu is #8, Kisilevich is #9, Poolman is #10, that leaves Morrow at #11. He might move up if Kisilevich can't live up to #9 billing.

I don't think it will hurt Rosie to watch 2 games in a row.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brossoit gets the Ducks game and they save Helly for Vegas . Gets Brossoit another game and rests Helly for Vegas .

I think they want Hellebuyck to play on Saturday vs. the Preds. Hellebuyck tomorrow, Brossoit Thursday, Hellebuyck Friday.
